Hi Guys! I would like use my ups with ub 77 usb to serial cable, because I don't have enough serial port. After the revision 2431 liebert(gtx2 /esp-2) drivers have bugs and I use rev2431 driver (liebertgtx2). It doesn't work with this cable. The Liebert App(Multilink) works with this cable. I am trying to use software to program a scanner radio (BCD396t and UASD software). The software installs and seems to run properly, reading and writing database files. But I cannot connect to the scanner, through a USB-to-serial cable. OS: ubuntu-8.10, kubuntu-8.10, debian/lenny (tried them all) lsusb identifies the cable as follows: Bus 002 Device 002: ID 067b:2303 Prolific Technology, Inc.

This is a general problem with the low-cost Prolific processor chip and drivers. You should invest in a better USB to Serial adapter (http://www.usconverters.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=67&products_id=244) with a FTDI chipset. It costs a bit more but its well worth the money. The drivers for the FTDI chipset are well documented and compatible with most devices.
