How to load an ISO as a “CD” to satisfy “insert CD” prompt?
I am trying to run my own legal copy of Propellerhead (http://www.propellerheads.se/) Reason 2.5 through Wine on latest Ubuntu on Asus (http://www.asus.com/) netbook, which has no optical drive. When the application starts, it asks me to ?Please insert the CD?, which I thought I knew how to do because after all, I had to mount the one of the three ISOs to start the installation.
I run this

Perfect World International- Mouse trouble
I have been installed PWI and I can get into the game but the mouse icon does not show up. I can get in and build a character if I hunt around and click blindly. That is the farthest I have gotten so I don't know if the game is going to work or not. I am fairly new to the Linux system but I have been learning. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to fix this?

4Story charters, monsters, mounts are not animated
Hi,
4Story is free mmorpg game, some kind WoW clone. Its run fine but has really annoying bug reported here http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=17488 by Pat and confirmed by me and Irfan Adilovic. There is nothing going on around this bug since February. Its not random bug its rather solid ;) so maybe finding it and fixing wont be so hard. In addition, as I said before game is totally free so

Help with XYPLOT with marginal histograms
I am trying to replicate the following plot using Lattice:
http://addictedtor.free.fr/graphiques/graphcode.php?graph=78
I'm having trouble with the lattice equivalent of the "oma" (outside
margin) setting. I've been all through the Lattice documentation and
others and also searched the lists.
Below is sample code that demonstrates where I'm at (it should paste

[ World of Warcraft ] The 1.8 Patch brings the target ( or targeting ) problem back
Hi,
It seems that the new 1.8 patch brings and old problem back. The problem
is :
It's impossible to target any world object without some
"tricks" [1] not always usable. This problem occured the first time with
the 1.5 patch. A lot of workarounds were given on the forum and,
finally,
the 2.6.12 kernel fixed the problem for a lot of people (like me).
Now the problem comes back but

gradient fill of a grid.polygon
Dear list,
Following a recent enquiry, I've been playing with the idea of creating a
colour gradient for a polygon, using the Grid package. The idea is to draw a
number of stripes of different colours, using the grid.clip function. Below
is my current attempt at this,
library(grid)
rotate.polygon <- function(g, angle=0){ # utility function, works fine
matR <- matrix(c(cos(angle),

parallel rotated strips with color gradient
Hi,
I want to produce two parallel rotated strips with color gradient. So
far, the sample strip is something produced by this:
pushViewport(viewport(x = unit(0.638, "npc"), y =unit(0.386, "npc"),
width=.62, height=0.006, angle=137.2))
grid.rect(y=100:1/100, just="top",
gp=gpar(col=NA,
fill=colorRampPalette(c("lightgray",

pickup.listchecker involving packet capturing/sending
With ease, due to the overwhelming amounts of documentation and help from these forums, I was able to get Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=897) working very nicely. I use this game to play a popular custom multiplayer map DotA (Defense of the Ancients). Due to the default 250ms delay within Battle.net a popular application has

Creating grid graphics with grid.layout
Hi,
I recently created a function which uses grid with a viewport
constructed with grid.layout() to position four plots on a plot device.
My question is what's the best way to programatically traverse each
element of the viewport?
The grid is 5x5 and the four plots occupy positions (2,2), (4,2), (2,4),
and (4,4).
Here's the viewport code:
pushViewport(

gList and gTree methods of grid::grobX
Dear all,
In an attempt to draw fill patterns in grid graphics, I have
encountered a behavior of grobX that I cannot understand from the
documentation. Consider this,
library(grid)
## gTree
g1 <- gTree(children=gList(
rectGrob(0.5,0.5, width=unit(0.8,"npc"),
height=unit(2,"cm")),
circleGrob(r=0.3)), vp=viewport(0.5,0.5))

How to calculate the number of times a given string can be displayed in the width of a grid viewport
There was too many spelling mistakes in my original post so I have
decided to re-submit it. So here is it
Dear R users,
I am trying to determine how many characters can be displayed within
the width of an open grid viewport. Unfortunately, the arithmetic
operation that seems obvious in this case is not permitted with unit
objects (see example below). Although there is a brute force way to

grid unit bug? (PR#14220)
The following seems to me to be at least a perverse trap, if not an =
outright
bug:
> is.numeric(unit(1,"npc"))
[1] TRUE
> is.numeric(1*unit(1,"npc"))
[1] FALSE
> is.numeric(unit(0,"npc") +unit(1,"npc"))
[1] FALSE
...etc.
i.e. is.numeric() appears to be TRUE for class "unit" but false for =
