Installin wine 1.3 shouldn't be this complicated!
I'm new to ubuntu but i'm starting to understand it. However, Ubuntu is completely useless for me if I can't run the latest version of wine (1.3). Wine 1.2 was working great on 10.04 however photoshop cs4 wouldn't install on it. So I upgraded to maverick, deleted wine 1.2, and am now trying to install wine 1.3. Should be simple, right? I've added the correct repositories to

Error when upgrading from wine 1.2.x to 1.3.x
Using the Ubuntu Wine Team ppa's I did a simple apt-get install wine1.3. As expected, 1.2 was removed and everything was upgraded except I seem to have some problem with the ia32-libs package in the iwne repository. Here is what I get when I try to upgrade: Code: sudo apt-get install ia32-libs Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done

Install both wine 1.2 and wine 1.3
Hi Before posting about my particular app, I think I had better luck installing it in 1.2 but now in 1.3 it doesnt install. How can I install both 1.2 alongside 1.3 and test this? Using Ubuntu 11.04 I can apt-get install wine1.2 (1.2.2) but that removes wine1.3 (1.3.15) thanks

Non-negative solutions to complicated equations
Hi all, I have a system of 3 equations with many defined parameters and 3 variables I need to find solutions to. I actually know the solutions I'm aiming for (0.07,0.287,0.0061) but R tends to give me (0,0,0). I tried the "BB" package but don't really follow how to refine my solutions from that; these are wrong so far. Here's my code from trying that: > f<-function(x){

Wine 1.3 and weird error: Unhandled page fault on read
Hey guys, There's a weird issue occurring that doesn't make sense to me. Whenever I run any 3D application, I get the following error: wine: Unhandled page fault on read access It's followed by a few strings, and the debugger kicks in. This seems to only affect 3D application. Thanks, in advance, for the input. :) r2rX :D

a complicated merging task
I would like to merge two dataframes, but i have a condition that needs to used for the merge as well. the rows (observations) in each dataframe are identified by each person's ID and by the date of the observation. Basically I would like it to be merged based on both ID (exact match) and date (a condition where one dataframe's date must be after the other dataframe's date).

Wolfenstein regression with Wine 1.3
Hi, I have been running Wolfenstein succesfully on my 64-bit Linux system (both on Mandriva and Archlinux) using Wine 1.2 in 32-bit version. However, Wine has been upgraded to 1.3.0 version on both systems, and I cannot run it anymore. I get a dialog when I try to run it saying: "You're not authorized to run this game!". I use a patched Wolf2.exe that was working properly with wine

Wine 1.3 packaged for Ubuntu, must be installed explicitly
I have added a new series of Wine 1.3 packages to the Wine PPA: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-wine/+archive/ppa These are for 10.04 (Lucid) only and must be explicitly installed: sudo apt-get install wine1.3 Users who simply install the wine or wine1.2 packages (as in, all existing users) will instead get the stable Wine 1.2 release, which is still packaged there. Thanks, Scott Ritchie

Khmer Unicode problem on Wine 1.2 and 1.3
I have been trying to get Wine to work correctly with Khmer unicode. I am using theWord (http://theword.gr), which renders Khmer just fine in Windows. However, when I run the program in Wine, everything functions perfectly, except the Khmer font rendering. I have the fonts installed in Wine and the script does display in the font. However, the script is displayed incorrectly, as if the open layout
