WoW - Ubuntu 10.10 - ATI HD5770
Hello all, I'm running WoW on Ubuntu 10.10 with the latest wine version as well as latest fglrx drivers. WoW runs quite well except that under the video settings, I can't turn the custom graphics settings to anything else than low. The reason in wow is: "Requires a shader model 3 capable graphics card" My card is an ATI HD5770 so I know it supports SM3. What am I supposed to

Black background in WoW with direct x.
Hello. I am an avid gamer and someone who always wants to go full Linux, but I always end up booting into Windows more than I want just to game. I am currently only playing WoW which I know runs flawlessly in WINE so I decided to swap back over. Everything was working fine and I decided to do a reinstall of Ubuntu going from 10.04 to 10.10, so I did a full format and reinstall. I just run WoW

Unusual hard problem, WoW won't start!
Hi, I have a kind of annoying and what it seems like unusual problem while trying to play the game World of Warcraft. I think I have done everything that people have recommended others to try out, have been googling around for some hours now. My graphic card is: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon HD 4770 [RV740] and I have installed the drivers for it. The funny thing is that my brother uses the exact

Ubuntu + Wine = Can't See My WoW :(
Hello all, I've been struggling for a while now to get World of Warcraft running under wine, and there's lots of helpful information out there, but nothing seems to address the particular problem that I am having. Rather than try to explain it to you, it would be easier just to show you a screenshot: http://www.maj.com/gallery/servo/00-BitBucket/wow-opengl.png In a nutshell, the

WoW crashes Wine
So I managed to install and get WoW running on my Eee PC 1000HD. However, the program will crash unexpectedly after 5-20 minutes. There doesn't seem to be a predictable occurrence that causes it to crash tho. I have been looking for answers but have found nothing so far. I should clarify that it isnt a complete crash. Wine pops up an error about how it needs to close but I can still hear

WOW won't start after installing Ubuntu 10.10
My WOW worked fine on ubuntu 10.04. Today I installed 10.10 and the wine from the Software Center, tried to start WOW from the previous WOW folder, and got this message: World of WarCraft (build 12340) Exe: Z:\home\csababogyo\WOW\World of Warcraft\Wow.exe Time: Oct 12, 2010 10:15:32.489 PM User: csababogyo Computer: HP-Compaq-8710w

WoW fails to start, SegFault
Hi! I just installed and updated WoW to the newest version. Earlier on, when I started WoW, I could log in normally and start the patch downloading from the game itself with ease. Now, with the newest version, when I try to start the game, it just crashes. If I'm running fullscreen, it will cause my X to kind of bug and only display the upper-left quarter of my desktop, forcing me to reboot

Ubuntu Hardy + Wine + WoW = corrupted graphics
Hello all, I've got a laptop w/ an "Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS, 943/940GML" graphics card (I know, Intel sucks) running Ubuntu Hardy and Wine 0.9.61~winehq0~ubuntu~8.04-1. I've had problems getting World of Warcraft to run under wine before, so when I upgraded to Hardy I thought I would try it again. At least in the past I could run WoW using the built-in d3d

wow.exe Wont Run in Wine 1.2.1
Many months ago, my machine ran WoW 3.x flawlessly. Now however, with Linux, it wont run at all. I am using Wine 1.2.1 and WoW 4.0.1 installed fine with the downloader, and the launcher runs without a hitch (although the "play" button won't appear once in a while). But once the Launcher program attempts to run the wow.exe, I get nothing. No game, no error message. Here's my

Hello, I use latest Wine version (0.9.48) to play World of Warcraft latest version (2.2.3) but I have been having a little bug with action bar, for not such a big while, and wonder what can cause it. So I'm looking for a clue (some log ?) to diagnose what happens on my machine (it works on a friends' one with somewhat the same configuration : same versions of WoW and Wine, Ubuntu Gutsy

WoW on Ubuntu 10.04
Hi, some time ago i've installed WoW in Ubuntu 9.10 using wine 1.1.42 (wine1.2 ubuntu package). Everything fine, had a few fps problems but with some tips found in wowwiki i've manage to increase fps to about 20. Some users would say it's still low, but i was happy with it. Well, some weeks ago i've updated to Ubuntu lucid (10.04). It's great, but my WoW fps drop down to about

Re: Wow crach.. I use bumblebee to activate nvidia optimus
I also struggled with this, but finally got it to work. I had to skip the -opengl opion and only run it as optirun wine Wow*exe No problems and no cashes during install. Somebody also hinted setting operating system to Windows7 in winecfg. Other hints were to download the corefonts and ie8 with winetricks, and, ofc, you also need wine_gecko from you own distro, otherwise wine will complain or

Crazy screen on WoW...
I've been playing WoW with zero problems for the past year or so on Ubuntu.. (running Maverick now)... I'm using the latest build of Wine... all updates applied in Maverick... latest version of WoW... Today, for some reason, the screen freaks out and I have to hard-boot the machine (see screen shot below)... I've tried just about everything and I'm clueless... I even renamed my

Hi all, my problem is probably common (I actually asked for help for a similar problem in the past), but I cannot find any solution. While I play with World of Warcraft my computer keep freezing (totally, I have to push the reset button). I have Kubuntu 8.04 64 Bits and Wine 1.1.2 (but the problems started with the 0.9.59 and all the versions afterward) on a an Intel Core 2 Duo E6700, 2GB RAM,

Re: Wine and WoW Cataclysm Patch 4.0 troubleshooting thread
Ok, after several hours, I installed the nVidia drivers from their own website, and then (this was the bit that took longest) I installed Wine 1.3.28 from the PPA. I had a go at building 1.3.29 from sources, but it complained about not having 32 bit development libraries. I looked around and all I could find was to install wine-deps from the PPA so I figured if I was going to do that, I might as

Wow and death on ATI
Hi ! I have recently bought an ATI card. I have managed to get wow working with catalyst 8.5. It works quite good except the white minimap when inddor. But when I die all graphics become corrupted and I can't use the game anymore. Strangely to bring my character to life I can launch the game in d3d mode to, slowly, head towards my body. I have ffxdeath 0 and ffxglow 0 in my Config.wtf.

Error msg on shell trying to open WoW (Newb)
Hey everyone, I'll start off by saying I've never successfully made the transition to linux after trying 6 times. Something like this always happens, and I end up giving up and going back to windows; this time, however, I'm determined to win . [Laughing] I've already posted on the ubuntu forums about this issue, and they referred me here. I'll quote the issue so far. >
