similar to: Installing Directx 9.0c problem

I DLed DirectX 9.0C redistributable and ran it with Wine. I didn't know it would want to know the directory to install to. Its obviously going to be in Wine's drive_c folder, but beyond that I have no idea. I was having some trouble with Winetricks installer so i thought manually would be easier. Anyone know where to install these files?

I tried pasting and unzipping streamci.dll to system32 but it still does not appear. How do I add it? And dllfiles.com doesn't have d3dx8 but it has d3dx81ab.dll. Do you think it will work?

Hey im having trouble with directx. 9 I have a black and gray models in portal and halo combat evolve. Hi, i am very new to linux (opensuse) and wine. I suppose I installed the driver for my gpu properly, since catalyst recognizes hd 5750. I copied the warcraft folder to /home/username. Hi! according to the Wine FAQ DirectX 9 is already implemented and you warn about installing the one from MS. When I try to install "newer" games (e.g. NFS - Most Wanted) the installer complains that DirectX 9.0c isn't installed. The same happened when I tried to install Drakensang. Hi, I'm trying to install the game "Aquanox" under Wine which needs DirectX 8.0. I've found a mail in the wine mailing list archive stating that wine already includes DirectX, but Aquanox keeps complaining about a missing d3d8.dll. I have a couple of questions about Wine, just in an attempt to enhance my understanding of it: Is Wine writing its own implementation of DirectX, which sort of 'forwards' instructions to an equivilant in OpenGL? I'm having problems compiling and linking a simple DirectX program with Wine. The problem is: a global variable c_dfDIMouse should be declared in dinput.h and defined in library dinput. c_dfDIMouse really is declared in dinput.h, but it seems that c_dfDIMouse is not declared in library dinput. During linking I get the error: undefined reference to `c_dfDIMouse'. Anyone got a clue? Thanks

Hi, I just installed DirectX 9.0c on latest Wine according to howto I found here on wine sites. Well the problem is, that in dxdiag 3D tests it shows just very fast spinning (that should be, shouldn't it?) cube, but with no DirectX texture on it, just a white cube. I have nVidia 8400MG.
