Memory Problems when trying to open .exe
Hey guys, sorry if I sound like a total noob here but I'm not used to Macs and I'm getting by the best way I can. I downloaded an .exe file (Microsoft Publisher 2000) and everything worked fine. However, when I go to open the MSPUB.exe file, I get the following error message: "Windows is low on memory, or your hard disk is full. Try closing other programs and freeing up some space on

Memory Problems when opening an application
What happened to the forum topic "Memory Problems when trying to open .exe" at WineHQ Forums? I received an email message dated earlier today saying it had received a reply since my last visit, and that it could be viewed at http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?p=50018#50018 but that URL gave me a not-found error. A search for the title on the forum site shows it, but clicking on the

Trying to install R on Lucid Lynx
Hi: I installed Lucid Lynx amd64 on my system today, dual booted with Win 7. I've managed to install several packages through the Ubuntu Software Center with success and also installed texlive. Alas, installing my favorite software has not been so joyful. I went through the last few months of posts in this group to find something similar, but to no avail. After a couple of false starts, I

WINE and Finale 2010
I just switched my Dell Dimension 2400 from WIndows XP to Ubuntu Linux 10.0.4 Lucid Lynx. I downloaded and installed Finale 2010. WHen I try to open the program, however, it tries to run (I see the outlines of windows for a second) but then doesn't open. I am completely new to Linux and have no idea what to look for to fix this. I trust someone here will know the answer, because I saw that

Introduction and discussion - Nouveau for Ubuntu Lucid
Hi, I've been following the list for a short while and scanned the archive. Apologies for missing any answers that were in the archive. I'm the Ubuntu kernel team member focusing on graphics during the Ubuntu Lucid Lynx (10.4) cycle. At the Ubuntu developer summit last week, we made the decision to include Nouveau in the Lucid kernel. I'd like to open a few topics for discussion

Paltalk
Hi, First of all I am using Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) with Wine installed. I was wondering if anyone has tried this program called Paltalk. It is a voice chat program/client. They do provide a web/flash version but it is not the same as the application that is available on Windows. Initially I couldnt install it using wine, so I read somewhere that I had to install IE4Linux and MSN messenger

Graphics - GeForce 9500 GT with Linux driver 195.36.24 Tested World of Warcraft and compared framerates in XP vs Ubuntu/Wine. With all parameters the same (same Config.wtf file with OpenGL set), same in-game options, same character,

trying to run geneforge in wine
I am fairly new to Linux and Wine. I have finally got around to trying some games in Wine. I am running Ubuntu lucid lynx and wine 1.2 and want to play the Geneforge games from spiderweb software. The app data base says that it is supposed to run well, but it loads, the menu screen is fine, then when I go to start a new game the mouse is nearly impossible to control, it is jumping around the

Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion sound problems
Hey all, this will be my first post on the forum. I am new to Linux (and subsequently WINE), having only recently ported over from windows to save me an outrageous $180 for an OS (and general prodding by a friend). Thus, I do not yet know much about terminal commands, but can use them. To the main topic. As the title may have hinted at, Oblivion has sound problems. The launcher plays music

R 2.11.0 for Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx on CRAN
Dear Ubunutu R users, Vincent Goulet and myself would like to announce the availability of R 2.11.0 for Ubuntu's latest release, Lucid Lynx. The packages should be on or arriving soon to your favorite mirror. R 2.11.0 packages also exist on CRAN for all Ubuntu releases going back to hardy. As Johannes Ranke pointed out for the Debian release, R packages installed under R < 2.10.0

[LLVMdev] Another bad binutils?
After waiting through about 2 hours of hard drive spinning for Clang to link under my Xubuntu Lucid Lynx Linux setup on VirtualBox, ld finally just gave up trying to link it. I was using CMake's build scripts on version 2.7 release of LLVM and Clang. The version of ld is (GNU Binutils for Ubuntu) 2.20.1-system.20100303. Can anyone confirm this problem? If needed I'll cross-post this to

Trouble installing pwr package
Hi all, I'm having trouble getting access to the pwr. This is on Ubuntu Lucid Lynx, 64 bit. I'm installing pwr via packages.install('pwr'), and loading it via library(pwr), both of which appear successful. Strangely, I never get access to the pwr object in R. I tried installing it to /usr/local/lib/R/site-library and ~/R/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu-library. I also tried installing it

Modifying sources.list
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Morning all: I suppose I may have asked this back when I jumped into R on Linux, but it's been a while and I need to ask again having shifted over to Kubuntu. Oh, and I do realize I'm playing at the edge of a pool in danger of emptying out running Hardy Heron but that's the copy I had to hand for the install. Are these two lines correct?
