Dynamic load library problem using R 4.0.0
I'm having problems getting code that runs under 3.6.1 on MacOSX (and
Ubuntu)
to run the R version 4.0.0 on Windows. I have not tested R 4.0.0 on mac
(yet).
Key question: Has anything changed in R 4.0.0/Windows regarding how
dynamically loaded
libraries are accessed? Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Wine HQ in Macosx
Hi
I started to work with a new platform: MacOSX Leopard 10.5.4.0 (coming from Ubuntu-Linux) and I tried to use Wine HQ with some XP programs that they worked successfully in Ubuntu with WH.
Now, actually, they work fine as well in MacOSX (so congratulations) however, I remember that in Linux I was able to create a link from my desktop to run directly the application and now I do not know how to

I agree that the MacOSX page needs a serious clean out, but I still would like the sticky on the forums as well. Never hurts to have two locations for the same information until xrandr support is

OT: Xranr support for MacOSX {was: Wine Window not Maximizing in MacOSX}
Note: This is somewhat related to Wine as fullscreen window support for X11 does not exist, at present, in the base X11 code. Many folks have posted threads asking why this is not so.
Bottom line: Without good xrandr support, there will NEVER be true fullscreen support nor the ability to open X11 sessions with sized windows without using the virtual desktop. This is sorely needed and

The place to put this information is the MacOSX wiki page, which looks to be sorely in need of updating. An experienced Mac user needs to do it. http://wiki.winehq.org/MacOSX

"Not enough memory" on MacOSX
I just installed wine 1.2-rc7 on a recent Macbook Pro under MacOSX 10.6.4 using Macports. It works fine with several Windows applications. However, when I try to execute an EXE file compiled from a simple Fortran program on a Windows box, all I get is:
wine: Not enough memory
The message is not correct since I have 4GB and the program is small. Also, the program works with wine-1.0.1 on a

bnlearn package compilation failure on MacOSX
Hi all.
I've recently uploaded a package (bnlearn) to CRAN. It builds fine
on both Linux (32 and 64 bit) and Windows, but fails on MacOSX ix86
because of C90 vs C99 issues:
http://www.r-project.org/nosvn/R.check/r-patched-macosx-ix86/bnlearn-00install.html
Since I've no MacOSX machine at hand, I would like to ask you:
why is C99 not the default for gcc on MacOSX ix86? Is it safe to

How to use perl bindings for dtrace on macosx leopard ?
According to this page,
http://www.apple.com/macosx/technology/unix.html
In addition, Java, Ruby, Python, and Perl have been extended to support DTrace, providing unprecedented access for monitoring the performance characteristics of those languages.
When I do dtrace -l | grep -i perl on MacOSX 10.5.2. I don''t see any perl providers so I am not sure how I could monitor perl scripts via

MacOSX 10.9.4 with Samba 4.1.11 and permissions weirdness
Hi folks,
I'm running CentOS 6.5 on our storage nodes, with Samba 4.1.11 RPMs from Sernet.
We're having a strange issue with MacOSX clients (testing on 10.9.4)
when writing directories.
Relevant smb.conf share portions:
create mask = 0660
force create mode = 0660
directory mask = 0770
force directory mode = 0770

Graphics on MacOSX
Ist there a possibility on MacOSX to import Graphics into MSOffice
Applications and resize them there without decreased quality? When I import
via copy&paste I get low quality bitmaps and via import pictures (pdf) it is
all the same. In the Windows versions of R there is the convienient way to
use metafile format which can easily be resized in ppt and word. What is the
equivalent way on

How to setup dovecot under MACOSX?
I have built Dovecot 1.0 test 67 under MACOSX. But I can not find any
tutorial on how to setup it.
Please allow me to explain my need.
I want to setup a local imap server, and then import all my email from
Mail.app and Gnus into it. Thus I can choose to read emails with any
client.
It's only a single user environment.
Could anyone instruct me if there is any tutorial for Dovecot MACOSX

I am developping a package (pgirmess) that since long does not go
through CRAN MacOSX checks, just because I have this command in one of
the examples.

It makes:

Installing tseries package on MacOSX
I have R 1.9.1 on MacOSX. The automated package download appears
broken in this version. Is there any documentation on how to compile
and install this the tseries package on MacOSX? I've looked around and
tried a few things but with luck.
Thanks!

Running MacOSX as VM under CentOS 5.10?
Is it even remotely possible to run MacOSX (or Darwin) as VM under CentOS 5.10
/ xen? Or am I better off not even trying and just getting a MacMini or
MacBook to just jack into my LAN? I just need a 'build box' and possibly
something to do light testing (eg does the program run? Does the GUI come
up?). I don't really have the *physical* room for an iMac, unless the screen
is tiny.
