Game named Istaria: Chronicles of the Gifted (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=1972) ( MMO ) is slower
on ANY linux and ANY wine version exactly 2 times .
For example on Windows I have 40 fps and in same place 20 fps on wine,

I was trying lot of "wine tricks" without any effect.
I have also installed the most up

Re : noob question :)
Wine changes dozens of files to run properly.
Last week a user couldnt login anymore his Windows XP after doing that.
Btw, as you say world of warcraft doesnt use registry and is well known to work on wine too
by copying the whole directory.
I suggest you to do that.
Its just a few megabytes of disk space versus a possibly unusable windows xp.
Kind regards,

Centralized DB of Windows Applications
Today, WINE has a distributed database of applications owned by the users of WINE. Practically, this solution is probably the only legal way to proceed unless the WINE project literally funds the purchase of every application for Windows. * Maybe, an owner of a specific program can loan the masters of their Windows programs to the WINE project with the guarantee that they'll be returned within

Hype The Time Quest Regression
There's an old Ubisoft game called "Hype the Time Quest".
For many Wine versions, Wine could not get past the Hype installer. It would go up to 117% and fail. Then a version came where if you unchecked the DirectX check, the install would work (or maybe that's all you had to do to begin with). But the game would fail to start with an error about MaiD3Dvr_bleu.exe. Then a Wine

I can't remove wine applications!
Hi there! I have a serious issue! I tried installing a game (PES 2010) and then, because it was not running, I decided to remove the application and upgrading to wine 1.1.33. So I did and then I restarted setup.exe, but now it brings me to the unistall prompt of the game, as if I had pes installed yet!
To remove it, I oreviously used the "remove wine apps" tool, but after that the game

An RPM of wine with safedisc support
Safedisc has now been working on wine for almost a year, but it'll
still take some time before we get the code into winehq, so I've
decided to build an RPM of wine with safedisc 1 support so users can
play around with it, you can download it from
http://www003.portalis.it/115/wine-safedisc-0.9.16-mdk.i586.rpm
Safedisc 2 and above are not supported. This is based on wine 0.9.16,
however it

Regarding Wine and Viruses
I understand the Wine can get viruses and could potentially infect your system. My question is if all I am using Wine for is Gaming and Microsoft Office, could I still get a virus? I mean if I load up FireFox (which is installed by default on Ubuntu) and go to a web site that has a virus, would I automatically become infected or the only way to get a virus is to load up FireFox (the windows

World of Warcraft on Linux Mint or Ubuntu, a doubt
Hi everyone
I used to have Linux Mint 8 Helena and World of Warcraft patch 3.2.x, like less than a year ago
I play on private servers (just because there's no way of payment for blizzard servers from Peru), and i had a bad experience with wine 1.0 (or 1.1.33, i can't remember - the thing is that wine 1.2 wasn't released)
My FPS were like 19-20 when in windows it goes at 60-65, in

Is there a difference ...?
Doh123, how is running a program off an NTFS partition asking for trouble? Ntfsprogs seems to handle it just fine. I know that NTFS doesn't let you mark a file as executable, and that the filesystem is susceptible to fragmentation, but you should just be able to tell it to run rather than display and be good. It shouldn't cause destruction. I think there might even be an NTFS defrag tool

Re: Wine and WoW Cataclysm Patch 4.0 troubleshooting thread
Ok, after several hours, I installed the nVidia drivers from their own website, and then (this was the bit that took longest) I installed Wine 1.3.28 from the PPA. I had a go at building 1.3.29 from sources, but it complained about not having 32 bit development libraries. I looked around and all I could find was to install wine-deps from the PPA so I figured if I was going to do that, I might as

Help with Battlefield 2 and EADM
Hi,
I purchased BF2: Complete Collection from EA's web site about a year or so ago. I was running Windows and bought it using EA's Download Manager (aka EA Link). I couldn't run the game without that program being active. Now, I proudly, run Linux full time and I can't get the game going because it still depends on EADM. I installed EADM, but it won't run. Is there a work
