Install both wine 1.2 and wine 1.3
Hi
Before posting about my particular app, I think I had better luck installing it in 1.2 but now in 1.3 it doesnt install. How can I install both 1.2 alongside 1.3 and test this?
Using Ubuntu 11.04 I can apt-get install wine1.2 (1.2.2) but that removes wine1.3 (1.3.15)
thanks

Mouse movement only in some directions
Hi,
my mouse doesn't work correctly in many games (not all).
I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 and the wine1.3 (from the launchpad package).
This concerns Need for Speed 2, Star Trek Bridge Commander and some others.
In Star Trek Bridge Commander the mouse doesn't seem to have a right x-axis and I'm not able to click on anything. Using the Keyboard to move the cursor won't do as well.

Re: Error loading mfc42.dll - failed (error c000007b)
:) Hi experts, hi dimesio
Few days ago Wine/Birthday Reminders stopped to run. I suppose that it is a consequence of an automatic updating of Ubuntu and I ask an advice on the best way to solve the issue.
Consider that:
if I run the application clicking on it, as usual, I see the system working and stopping after tens of seconds,
If I run the application by console, this is the code that I get

Status of Wine64 on OSX?
Hi,
I know Wine64 is still experimental, and I've read threads from last Summer stating that Wine64 won't build nor run on OSX at this time.
However, Wine64 would be really useful for me on OSX, because I build small simple apps for both win32 and win64 mode, and being able to crosscompile and run them from OSX would be a great time saver for me.
So, what's the status of Wine64 on

Getting current Wine in Ubuntu 10.04?
I'm on Ubuntu Lucid with the Wine PPA in my repos, and wine --version
still gives "wine-1.2", not 1.3.0 and on. What's the magic incantation
to get the dev releases?

Wine64 status
Just wondering something: the last time I've read anything on wine64 stated
that it compiled, but couldn't run anything (complex at least). Just
wondering as of feb 25, how is wine64 coming along? Have a 64-bit system,
and due to a bug in 32-bit wine WoW crashes constantly due to using more
than 4gb of memory, and I figured the 64-bit version won't have an issue
with this...

Is Wine64 usable yet?
Hi,
I am trying to get a general feel of how usable Wine64 is.
I just built 1.3.13.
To see how well it works, I ran 64-bit Putty. It works flawlessly.
Now, I am trying to play around with different little programs. I took
"notepad.exe" from a Windows 7 install (hoping it would be a reasonably
simple program for a start). It crashed with:
fixme:heap:HeapSetInformation (nil) 1 (nil)

Wine Gecko download problems on Kubuntu 10.10 w/Wine 1.3.28
I can't seem to get wine to recognize my installation of Wine Gecko 1.3 at all. I have the Wine PPA added to my sources already and have installed the 'wine1.3-gecko' package using Synaptic (personal preference over Kpackagekit or Muon) along with of course the actual wine 1.3 package and the symbol font replacement package for 1.3. I have also tried the 'manual install'

Re: Uninstall Windows Apps?
Normal user.
The only change I've made to the logged in user since that user was created during kubuntu install was to add it to "disk" groups.
So the steps I've made are:
1. Into a new kubuntu computer I've installed wine1.2 using terminal, then sudo su, then apt-get install ....
2. I've installed VisualC2005 with winetricks I've started from the menu, as the

Wine 1.3 packaged for Ubuntu, must be installed explicitly
I have added a new series of Wine 1.3 packages to the Wine PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-wine/+archive/ppa
These are for 10.04 (Lucid) only and must be explicitly installed:
sudo apt-get install wine1.3
Users who simply install the wine or wine1.2 packages (as in, all
existing users) will instead get the stable Wine 1.2 release, which is
still packaged there.
Thanks,
Scott Ritchie
