Speeding up wine applications
I currently managed to get wine to run Starcraft. However, it seems to run very slow. I have a 700mhz processor and a 32mb GeForce2 MX so I'm pretty sure that my system is capable of handling the game. What can I do to accelerate the game or any other programs in general?

How to use bash command in R script?
Dear All: Maybe it is a too basic question, but I don't how to find the answer. Sorry for that. What I want to do is call a shell command, which will provide two numbers, and assign those numbers to a vector. For example: The following command: $mxresult.sh ABC.mx mxresult.sh is a script written by myself and ABC.mx is a Mx script. I can get two numbers, 126.128 and 29, with this command.

[Fwd: Re: [Fwd: Re: Start Windows application from another windows application]]
Just some extra info: I used my knoppix 3.8.1 CD (which I occasionally use on my company XP laptop) to boot and I installed ptgui, panotools, autopano and enblend (which required some tweaking due to the ramdisk config). Everything ran fine as it used to do in windows. Knoppix 3.8.1 is a modified debian system running kernel 2.6 and it uses wine 20050310. So my problem can't be a hardware

ext3 0.9.6 vs ext3 0.9.9
Hello, I have done extensive testing between 2.4.9 and 2.4.9-ac12 with ext3 0.9.6 and 0.9.9. I also tried using both kgcc and gcc-2.96. I have a problem with logging into xdm or starting the gnome-session totally locking up the machine while using ext3 0.9.9. It seems to go away using ext3-0.9.6. During xdm/gnome-session the hard disk is under heavy activity. I have attached my kernel config.

More problems with latest of of Sid
1. Windows solitaire and freecell used to run flawlessly. Now, freecell will not even execute and solitaire comes up almost without cards showing. Freecell run in a terminal kicks about resolution and a registry key relating to fonts and cannot load cards.dll. Solitaire kicks about the same thing but gets the dll. 2. As I posted previously, MIDI applications do not see any MIDI devices. This

Hi all! While I was having some fun, testing different filesystems at home and making some benchmarks, I hit a bug when running Postmark in an ext3 partition mounted with data=journal. I repeated this test twice and got the same results under Linux 2.5, also it was not found while mounting with data=writeback or data=ordered or under Linux 2.4. I don't know if it's a know problem or
