Warhammer 40k Soulstorm: patching fails
Hello. I've reinstalled Soulstorm 1.0 with wine-1.1.44 on a new machine. When I try to patch Soulstorm to 1.1, it fails: $ WINEDEBUG=+seh wine SS_EN_1.00_1.10_Patch.exe (...) wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000004 at address 0x404b55 (thread 0009), starting debugger... This worked correctly before; am I the only one that has the problem, or is it a regression? -- F.

Bug minimizing Warhammer DoW:Soulstorm in Gnome/Ubuntu 10.04
Hello. I don't know if it's a bug or a feature of wine, Gnome, Ubuntu or all of them. When I start Soulstorm, it is fullscreen, which suits me fine. When I hit Alt+Ctrl+D, the game minimizes, and I go back to the desktop. However, if I want to restore the window of another application (e.g. firefox), the game's window is restored fullscreen too, so I can't access firefox. Is it

Warhammer Dawn Of War: Dual core system: only one of the core working?
Hello. I'd like to know if, under Windows, on a dual-core system, both cores are used by this game. For me, under wine, though both cores are detected correctly, only one of them is used (one is 100%, the other 0%). Can anybody tell me if the game behaves the same under Windows? Thanks. -- Fabrice DELENTE

Sound skips in all games since Wine 1.1.6
In 1.1.5 the sound/music in games played allright. Since 1.1.6 it skips badly - plays for a couple of seconds, then stops for half a second, then plays again, then skips and so on. Happens on every game on Steam - Team Fortress 2, Everyday Shooter, Peggle Extreme - and also without Steam - Icy Tower. I have Razer Barracuda AC-1 sound card. I've found that in Winecfg when I choose Alsa driver

Warhammer: Dawn Of War Winter Assault Expansion
Hello. I'm trying to install this expansion under wine. The uninstaller reverted Dawn Of War to 1.40 correctly as it should, but due to an msi installer error, the expansion didn't install. I'm trying to copy the files by hand; I used cabextract to get them from inside the CAB files, but now I need to know where to put them. These files are: Viewing cabinet: WinterAssault1.cab File

Audio makes winecfg segfault
Hello all. When I start winecfg, everything works ok until I click on the audio tab, which gives wine: Unhandled page fault on write access to 0x003ffd80 at address 0x619716c5 (thread 0009), starting debugger... Wine itself works ok, I have sound; however I think it is in OSS emulation mode, but I'd like to change it to alsa (I use ala-1.0.12). Xmms works perfectly in alsa mode, so I

How to choose the DSP?
Hello. I have two soundcards (with alsa 1.0.11rc4, and OSS emulation) on my machine, and I would like to change the one Wine is using; I didn't find anything in the system.reg, and I believe ~/.wine/config isn't used anymore? The sound works, but I would like to use /dev/dsp1 instead of (default) /dev/dsp. I can't use winecfg, it throws an unhandled exception when I click on the

DoW Soulstorm crack
I was wondering if anyone has been able to get DoW Soulstorm Running on their Wine. I've looked at several forum lines, and no one seems to have been able to crack it yet. From what i've gathered, the reason it wont work is because of the cd check. If i were able to crack the game so it didnt check for the cd, would it work then? I'm very new to Linux, so please post any replies with a

lotro - no sound or options alsa/wine 1.3.27
Pre wine version 1.2.26 sound worked fine in lotro and the in game audio options page showed the sound card in a dropdown box and titles for all of the sound option slide bars. new sound problem
Hello All, I've run into a sound problem with Dawn of War. It's the only game I can currently get running under wine so I can't test beyond it right now. I was having problems with the models in the game (see here: http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=8367) but they are working now after I upgraded my version of wine to the release candidate I got off of my openSUSE 11.2

EADM & Warhammer Online
Under Winecfg, I set my "E:" (secondary hard drive designation from Windows) to be readable as "H:" by Wine. I already have EADM installed in /media/disk/Program Files/Electronic Arts/EADM (hard disik one). When trying to load from terminal via "Wine" command it just calls up a screen when I tell it to execute "EADM/Core.exe" that complains it needs flash

Problem since Wine 1.2-rc1
Hi! Wine is completely not working for me since the release of the 1.2-versions. Any try to start an app with wine or running one o wine's apps itself (winecfg etc) results in a freeze of wine. This is whatthe console delivers me for winecfg: > *** glibc detected *** winecfg.exe: free(): invalid next size (fast): 0x7c050a30 *** > ======= Backtrace: ========= >

No sound in wine with Ubuntu 10.10, native sound works fine
Hello, i am a new Linux user as of last weekend. I successfully built my first computer and installed Ubuntu 10.10 and wine 1.2. I am using the hdmi out on my nvidia gtx 460 graphics card with on-board which works fine with standard pulseaudio for all tested native apps (system sounds, hulu on firefox, warzone 2100). I have tried every combination of winecfg audio tab settings as well as

No sound with alsa and Nvidia HDMI
Hi, I cannot get wine to recognize my audio device (Nvidia GT210 w/HDMI). No other sound card is enabled. The right device for sound is hw:0,3. Alsa's speakertest works fine. Pulseaudio is completely removed from my system. Also Wine's pulse package is removed even though the trace still has some references to pulseaudio. Winecfg displays only MIDI devices under ALSA. Weired Sound Issues on Opensuse 11.1 and ALSA (Wine 1.1.26)
Hello Everybody I got some little issues with the sound. Logged in as my normal user - I've the testsound (winecfg) on the internal device. I can't change it. If I log in as root I've the testsound on my external USB speakers (the way I would prefer it works). I can't Imagine me - why there is a different between root and my normal user. Please find below some details. Code:

No sound using OSS in Steam games
Whenever I change the sound driver from ALSA to OSS in winecfg all of my steam games are muted. Some of the games doesn't even start, some of them start but are totally silent with OSS. I installed a couple of non-steam games into the same wineprefix, interestingly they can use both sound systems. So this issue is applied only to steam games. If I apply the WINEDEBUG=+dsound parameter when
