Bonzai 3D - SketchUp with nurbs
Hi, I use SketchUp under wine and it runs really well, so first off many thanks to all those here who helped make that happen. Recentlly I've been looking for a SketchUp-ish app which can handle nurbs, and Bonzai3D appears to fit the bill. However, although though it currently runs under wine, menu icons are invisible. I am neither wine nor Bonzai competent, (under the hood), but if

SketchUp, Bonzai3D, FormZ - all have same refresh problem
Hi, When using any of these 3d design apps under wine, (1.1.44), I often find that the last click or roll of the mouse is not reflected on the screen. For example, I zoom into an object using the middle mouse button and as I do so it gets bigger on the screen. When I have got the object where I want it, I click on it to select it but instead immediately zoom one level closer, meaning I miss the

Can't connect with rpcclient
Hi All, I am trying to install Windows drivers on a samba (3.5.4) print server, following the instructions here: http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/classicalprinting.html#inst-rpc (The instructions for using the simpler Windows Add Printer dialogue do not work for this driver. It must be configuring necessary things in the driver's install script.) The entire

Winbind Craziness
so I'm going to ramble a bit because I need help desperately and I'm slogging away on my own, but something I say might give someone an idea. This whole thing seem to revolve around kerberos kvno's and machine password changes. couple of days after violently recreating the server people start to not be able to connect. today's debugging turned up a mismatch between the kvno

A plethora of problems related to crashes and drawing in AOM
A plethora of problems related to crashes and drawing in the game Age of Mythology Gold. A few of these problems didn't exist in earlier versions of wine. I haven't filed any of these as bug reports but wanted to put what I did find here so I wouldn't lose it. You need mfc42.dll in your System32 directory and you need AOM Gold NoCD patch 1.03 English (aomx.exe) to be able to play this

Linux vs NT: a new test
Don't know how many ppl saw/read the following: http://www.zdnet.com/pcweek/stories/news/0,4153,1015266,00.html One of the comments on Slashdot was the question as to how well 4.4lite would have done in the same tests, as they "theorize" that alot of the problems revolve around Linux's IP stack... Now if only we had a working MMAP, we'd be all set... Marc G. Fournier

Directory routing to wrong extension if dial tones are pressed too quick.
Hi All, Have completely moved off the old ESI system, and things have been going pretty good with the new server. I have one issue, which has been reported by several of our customers. I've tested it, and it does indeed seem to be a problem. When the customer is asked to dial in the first three letters of the person they are trying to reach, they will be routed to the wrong extension.

ACL Win XP problem
Ok, I've been searching Google for two days and can't seem to find an answer for this. I want to use ACL's, but I need to be able to administer them in Win XP. My distro is Suse 9.1 and I'm running a standalone Samba server. I can create acl's just fine in Linux/shell, and when I view a file in the Security tab I can see and edit all the ACL parameter's just fine.

CentOS Repo Questions (and Samba)
Hello, I have two questions which are really CentOS repository related, but they primarily revolve around the Samba packages available. 1) Why is the s390 architecture version of Samba for CentOS 4 so much more up to date than the i386 architecture version? If you open these two links in a browser window... http://isoredirect.centos.org/centos/4/updates/i386/RPMS/

Amateur Radio/FCC and the "none" encryption option
Is there an easy way to get the "none" option back into OpenSSH? In order to do TCP/IP over amateur radio in the U.S. (and most other countries) we must not use encryption to obscure the meaning of our info, but we are allowed to use authentication to set up the links. This means we need normal authentication but we need the "none" option back in OpenSSH in order to use it

Constrained non-linear optimisation
I'm relatively new to R, but I'm attempting to do a non-linear maximum likelihood estimation (mle) in R, with the added problem that I have a non-linear constraint. The basic problem is linear in the parameters (a_i) and has only one non-linear component, b, with the problem being linear when b = 0 and non-linear otherwise. Furthermore, f(a_i) <= b <= g(a_i) for some (simple) f

Class that wraps Data Frame
Hello, I have again a "good practices"/programming theory question regarding data.frames. One of the fundamental objects that I use is the data frame with a particular set of columns that I would fill or get information from, and an entire system would revolve around getting information from or putting information to such data.frame. On a different OOP programming language I would be

Maildir, INDEX, and folders
I'm reading the wiki et el. regarding indexes, but can't come up with a coherent answer to the setup and what will happen. I want to take the indexes and move them off of NFS (~/Maildir) and place in /var/spool/dovecot/indexes, but not have to hand create everything (user homes, mail folders) So, I create a parent folder /var/spool/dovecot/indexes that has the appropriate permissions

SIP Softphones and Citrix ?
Anyone aware of any SIP softphones that might virtualize well with Citrix presentation server? I suspect I know the answer already as I have been researching softphones that work with Cisco CallManager that can be virtualized if you will with Citrix and have come to learn that its not something that seems to be doable at this time. I have to assume that the issues affecting the virtualization of

Docs Issue - IP Masq vs. SNAT
More than one of our docs issues revolve around some confusion between "IP masquerading" and "SNAT" -- a confusion I might share, or if contagious, I may be catching. <g> I think of SNAT more or less as a special case of IP masquerading, applicable when, for example, the external interface has multiple IP''s and you choose to _explicitly_ set the address through
