Running rFactor - vertex shader error message
Hi
I have installed rFactor with wine 1.3.8 and and updated the video memory size in regedit and mentioned in the installation guide in wine HQ but when I try to start the game a 'fatal error compiling vertex shader vs 11_blinnBumpTO' message comes up. I did not install the directx drivers when asked during the installation. The graphics card is an onboard ati HD 4200 with 128mb onboard

Enable proxy for rFactor
I've been playing rFactor and sometimes I can't connect to certain servers, specifically, a buddy's. He has a dedicated server setup, but I'm the only one that can't connect. It turns out that when I ping him, there's no response and when I traceroute, it doesn't get there. I'm thinking I could connect to a network that can reach him, but the only problem is I

knowing the code-number of factors in a vector
Hi,
I would like to know how R assigns the numeric code to a set of factors
in a vector. For example, I have a vector of 5 different factors in a
random order, and I want a color-coded plot by factors:
rfactor=as.factor(sample(letters[1:5], 50, replace=T))
rfactor

rFactor Dedicated Server CPU usage
Hello,
I recently upgraded to wine 1.3.25 on debian sid to run a dedicated server for rFactor game on a little Athlon 64 x2 4400+ linux box.
The server works just fine but is a CPU hog !
Under "top" it uses about 26% CPU for "rFactor Dedicated.exe" and another 28% for "wineserver" binary without any player connected.
I also insist on the fact that I previously ran

ff version 2.2.0
Dear R community,
The next release of package ff is available on CRAN. With kind help of Brian Ripley it now supports the Win64 and Sun versions of R. It has three major functional enhancements:
a) new fast in-memory sorting and ordering functions (single-threaded)
b) ff now supports on-disk sorting and ordering of ff vectors and ffdf dataframes
c) ff integer vectors now can be used as

Find zeros of analytic functions
Dear Partecipants to the list,
I am Enrico Foscolo, a student of the Faculty of Statistics, University of Bologna,
and I am interested under consideration of the search of zeros of one function.
I would want to write a code using the software R.
I have already read the book "Computing the Zeros of Analytic Functions" (P. Kravanja and M. Van Barel, 2000) that speaks about this problem,

Hi guys,
I need some help to analyzing my data.
I start to describe my data: I have 21 matrices, every matrix on the
rows has users and on columns has items, in my case films.
Element of index (i, j) represent the rating expressed by user i about item j.
I have a matrix for each of professions.
An example of a this type of matrix is:

[LLVMdev] LLVM on small MCUs?

Wow, PIC looks like a brutal port.
AVR would be easy in comparison: stack-based architecture with plenty of
registers. However, these architectures share:
- 8-bit loads, stores, and arithmetic ops.
- Harvard architecture

OT: Online TTS engines?
The one I like:
http://www.rhetorical.com/cgi-bin/demo.cgi
is toast. I think they went broke or got aquired by someone. Also, is there
a Festival voice that sounds as good as Rhetorical or the AT & T stuff? The
default one is barely legible. Since Festival is a little brutal to
configure, I'd like to get someone's recommendation then go through the pain
of reconfiguring it only once.

[LLVMdev] GSoC: PTX Back-End for LLVM
Hi All,
I am going to submit a GSoC proposal for LLVM this year, and I would like to
first post it here to get constructive feedback before I submit it before
the April 8 deadline. This is the first time I have submitted a GSoC
proposal, so please be brutal with the feedback. :)
Additionally, Che-Liang Chiou (the code owner of the PTX back-end) has
agreed to be my mentor if this is accepted.

Logrotate in CentOS 5.4 more brutal (to httpd at least) than in 5.3?
I've just updated a few CentOS 5.3 servers to 5.4. One of them were a Apache Webserver. Doing a diff/check on the new ".rpmnew" config files that are made, I saw that the logrotate command for apache was changed. In 5.3 it did a reload, but in 5.4 it does a hard kill:
CentOS 5.3:
/var/log/httpd/*log {

wrapping mle()
Hi,
How can we set the environment for the minuslog function in mle()? The
call in this code fails because the "ll" function cannot find the object
'y'. Modifying from the example in ?mle:
library(stats4)
ll <- function(ymax=15, xhalf=6) {
-sum(stats::dpois(y, lambda=ymax/(1+x/xhalf), log=TRUE))
}
fit.mle <- function(FUN, x, y) {

Restructure puppet modules
So far we have a similar situation, for each different server one fabric
and one puppet file, where the fabric file simply applies it in a brutal
way.
with settings(user=''root''):
put(''qa.pp'', ''qa.pp'')
put(''puppet apply qa.pp'')
And puppet files don''t use anything like classes or modules, but

per-mailbox message limits
This is something Timo hacked up for me a few years ago and I realised
should be on the list in case anyone else wants them.
The following patches will limit maildir folders to 4000 messages on
Dovecot 2.0.* and 2.1.*
The Specfile patch is against the Cityfan Redhat EL5 SRPM but is likely
to work on most build platforms
Changing the message limit requires a recompile. It's brutal and

yum hangs and results in problems
My live mail server was due an update so I ran
yum update
All seemed file so I told it to proceed. HOwever it then hung for over 30
minutes.
I stopped the update and tried again. It complained about problems with the
update, so I tried
yum --skip-broken -y update
which then hung at a different place. After some Googling I tried
yum-complete-transaction
and
