Default R Font Changed After Upgrade to Debian 8
Good day, I have been unable to solve this issue. Do you get grainy fonts when running the test case plot(1:10, main = "abcedfghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz", cex.main = 4, cex.lab = 4, cex.axis = 4) What version of libcairo is on your system ? -------------------------------------- Dario Strbenac PhD Student University of Sydney Camperdown NSW 2050 Australia

ubuntu package installs
hello puppet list My puppet server is now working quite wonderfully. Thanks go out to all who have assisted in getting it to this point. At this point in time my config is now correctly installing packages according to arch,os and release. Centos is working quite well as of now, but I am attempting to get the ubuntu side of things to work as well. I am frankly more familiar with RHEL under

wine using -windows-System- font
I have noticed my WINE isn't using mentioned font already for a quiet long time. After having read http://www.winehq.org/site/docs/wine-user/config-fonts-main on this I found paragraph "5.10.1.1. How To Convert Windows Fonts". After I completed first 4 steps I stuck problem with 5th step: 5, Edit the ~/.wine/config file to remove aliases for the fonts you've just installed.

In particular, the build

How to revert to wine 1.5.4 on Ubuntu 12.04 using Synaptic?
I am using: http://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-wine/ppa/ubuntu as an additional repository in Synaptic so I can use the latest (released) version of wine, 1.5. Today, with the wine 1.5.5 update, I can no longer run World of Warcraft, so I'd like to revert to the 1.5.4 version until the latest released version works. Unfortunately, I can't force Synaptic to use 1.5.4 (perhaps because the

Font problem since wine-1.2-rc2
Since wine-1.2-rc2, the wine fonts have not been working correctly. They are all smudged up, and text in certain applications is very hard to read. Permissions Changing on BIND, Causing Samba Trouble
Greetings, For whatever reason, the BIND server running on our Samba AD instance changes permissions on /var/lib/samba/private/ldapi and /var/lib/samba/private to root:root, and causes all kinds of trouble. If I change the permissions back to named:root, it works fine. But after about 3 or 4 weeks it will revert back to root:root. How do I prevent this from happening in the future? Thanks.

Problem getting subpixel AA font rendering to work
Hi... I'm running Debian 5 (Lenny) and using wine packages from http://www.lamaresh.net/apt lenny main, which contains wine version 1.1.12. I've installed MS Office 2003 without problems, but when I start up word the fonts are choppy/blocky/what-have-you, but certainly not being AA. I came across a thread on this forum that suggested adding a file to the registry. I can do that on

Update wine?
It appears that it is recommended to uninstall previous version of Wine, in order to update (here: http://wiki.winehq.org/HowTo, first paragraph). When uninstalling previous versions of Wine, does the virtual C drive (and associated programs) remain intact?

Empty text-boxes in various programs. Tried recompiling with FontForge..
Does anybody know of a fix for missing font/text problems with Wine? I've read of many people having the problem, but no cure other than the suggestion of packaging problems and that one should compile from source with FontForge support. I have compiled from source with FontForge support but the problem is still here. I am using Fedora Core 5 on x86. You can see the problem here:

trouble installing ess 13.04 ubuntu package on 64 bit system
I'm finding installation of the ess raring0 package fails, on two different 64-bit kubuntu systems. degree symbol using X11 on Xubuntu 10.04
Dear all, I am having exactly the same problem as Andy on an Intel Mac (see below / https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-sig-mac/2009-May/006208.html) with the degree symbol. I am using R version 2.11.1 (2010-05-31) on Xubuntu 10.04 with Windows fonts copied from /WINDOWS/Fonts and included via 'sudo dpkg-reconfigure fontconfig' and 'sudo fc-cache'. Any help would be highly

grub problems
This is irritating: I've got a server I just upgraded to 5.4, then rebooted, only to discover that it just *sits* there at the grub boot menu. I looked at grub.conf, and uncommented hiddenmenu (which should have been done long ago). It *still* sits there when I reboot. Any clues, folks? mark grub.conf: #boot=/dev/sda default=0 timeout=5 splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
