CUPs and Samba and XP
Hullo All. The preamble.... Samba 2.2.7a compiled against CUPS, CUPs v 1.1.6 (version that came with Mandrake 9.0), using client side drivers (raw printing) on XP. Printing works, cancelling jobs via the web interface works after the spooling is done. What doesn't work. Pausing jobs (though that's not as important as the next trouble) and cancelling jobs from XP. If I cancel a job by

samba3, cups, and pointprint drivers install
Hello, I've got a redhat9 system with cups and samba3 installed. I want to use this machine for both local and network printing. On the local side apps can print just fine, the cups configuration is working great. Network-side is not the case. I've got a mixture of 2k and 9x clients, so i'm going to need drivers for both configurations. In smb.conf i've got: printcap name = cups

Printing with and without cups on the same machine
Hi all! We have a samba 3.0.2a-Debian running in combination with cups. I want to use cups to print to all "normal" printers (e.g. HP Laserjet), which seems to run. But I want also use a printer-script to genereate pdf Files using gs (no, I don't want to use the pdf backend providet on the cups web site, for several reasons...) On a machine running samba 2.2.3a-13 without cups,

Hm, dispatch protocol error
I've been getting a few locked sessions (unable to ctrl-c, ctrl-z it) with the message: Hm, dispatch protocol error: type 20 plen 136 I've never seen this message before openssh-SNAP-2000082900, and it's only happened when connected to SSH 2.3.0, from openssh-SNAP-2000082900. Both machines are mips-sgi-irix6.5. Anybody care to explain what it means? Is it a known bug? -jf

Samba/Cups Newbie question...
Hi, I think that this is more a Samba query than a Cups one, as far as I can tell from the documentation anyway... I am running samba-2.2.5-1 and cups-1.1.16, I have these installed and working correctly... I have 50+ PC's (mixture of WinNT, Win2k, WinXP and Win9x/ME) printing to 6 queues on the server, 5 of these are RAW queues printing via lpd and ipp, and the other is a socket

CUPS and Samba without authorization
Perhaps one of you could lend us a hand with this... We are trying to setup an open access print server using RedHat 7.3 and Cups 1.15. We are seeing the following error message on some of the log files related to some Win2K users: [2002/07/18 08:57:35, 0] rpc_client/cli_spoolss_notify.c:spoolss_connect_to_client(133) connect_to_client: machine JLEE rejected the tconX on the IPC$ share. Cups, Samba, Windows without login
Hello, for some new printers in our company we want to set up a samba server with cups. We use w2k and wxp as clients. Because we want to make some of those printers public for open rooms we have some problems: We use novell for some rooms and for other rooms an active directory. The Novell-clients use a local user account for login. Every client should use the printers without insert a

Printing problem (high CPU and long delay) with Samba + Cups
Hi, I acually have a problem to print with Samba ans Cups (Samba 3, Cups and OpenLdap). In fact when i try to print from Windows XP Pro SP2 i've a very long delay (near 1/2 minutes) between the click on the "print" button and the display of the printer selection windows. During this delay the application seem the freeze and the CPU usage of the Samba Server climb and stay near

I will pay you $10US (via Paypal) out of my own pocket if you can solve this CUPS & Samba problem.
Seriously. I can't afford to be down much longer or I'm going to be in serious trouble. Running Redhat 7.2. Here's the scoop: Cups is installed and running. Samba is installed and running and is sharing files properly to 100+ people. I can print a test page from the Cups web-interface. I can print a test page by "cat foo | lpr" or "cat foo | lpr.cups" no

Printing samba, cups and legacy 16 bit applications
hello everybody, I have come to a dead end. I have successfully configured cups and samba to print from windows with automated drivers download. It works perfectly, but for one little problem, most of the printing here in my company are reports printed by the ERP software, which has been developed by ouserlves some 12 years ago in (oohh sucks) Visual basic 3. The problem is: Every single

Samba + Cups: don't succeed to print from Windows 2000 station
Hello, I have configured cups (1.1.18) on a Suse 8.2 Pro Linux server. I have also configured samba (2.2.7a), and joined a domain. I have created printers with cups and declared them to samba with cupsaddsmb command. All seems to be ok. I can print from my Linux server. But, when I want to print from ny windows2000 station: - I can find my linux server - I can find and connect printers
