Naturally speaking under wine help needed
[[apologies if this is a dupe. gmane is a bit odd sometimes]]
I need some help on a handicap accessibility project. It's really great for
people like me that naturally speaking is working in wine (mostly). One
important shortcoming is getting our dictated text into linux. Today, in order
to copy text from the wine environment and place it in the Linux environment, we
need to dictate into

Naturally speaking + Wine better, the audio not so good
NaturallySpeaking under wine is working remarkably well considering the amount
of complexity present in both systems.. When I use it, it's just smoother and
feels better than NaturallySpeaking under Windows. My undying gratitude is
extended to all of those that helped.
Here's what doesn't work so well. Audio. Specifically, vxi-b200 USB microphone

Running DNS 9.5 Standard
Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9.0 Preferred installs and runs. However, DNS 9.5 installs well but does not. The output is as follows.
I have been told that there is an oleacc function that has not been implemented in wine, but does anyone else have any suggestions?

No Sound in Wine - disable / remove pulseaudio
Wine requires direct access to sound device(s) to make sound. This is true for both ALSA and OSS driver back-ends. However most sound servers are not compatible with neither of these back-ends. This also true about pulse-audio - it is not fully compatible with Wine.
If you using new distro (Fedora 8, Ubuntu 8.04, SuSE 11) and do not have sound you should:

Help! How to mix win32 and native os calls in code?
Hi
I have a tool that I am running under Mac version of Wine. What I am
doing is installing the tool under wine (i.e wine <path to installer
pkg.exe>) and then running it from wine.
It uses an api to capture current screen (BitBlt api). Under Mac, it
is capturing the X windows frame buffer instead of native Quartz frame
buffer. I have source code for this tool. I am thinking of

Pb with Installshield (Dragon Naturaly Speaking) : not enough room on system drive
Hi !
I'm trying to install Dragon Naturally Speaking in a WINE "fake windows"
setup, and I have troubles with InstallShield.
I tried this a while ago (with wine 20031212) and had *partial* success :
The app installed, by I had trouble with the character set settings and
botched the voice training, 'cause I couldn't read the screen ...
I reinstalled a new machine

Getting lowest latency sound?
I have been trying to get lowest-latency sound (with highest fidelity) to use with Dragon NaturallySpeaking.
I have Jaunty and the latest RT kernel, which I know has problems for many applications but works fine to run DNS. (It will not, however, install the program nor train it.)
I set up real-time audio access as follows:
sudo su -c 'echo @audio - rtprio 99 >>

Regression in Wine 0.9.5 : Dragon Naturally Speaking no longer runs
Dear list,
A bit of caveat : I upgraded wine to the all-new 0.9.5 release, and lost
the use of Dragon Naturally Speaking. The error box reports an "Access
violation" error, and refers to Dragon's own log ; the latter report a
segment violation and barfs a somewhat largish stack dump (available on
request).
I am looking for older (i. e. <=0.9.4) version of Scott Ritchie's

When I run "wine /media/cdrom1/autorun.exe" the install looks promising for a few moments, then an error message saying:

Regression: Dragon Naturally Speaking 7.
I had installed Dragon Naturally Speaking under Wine 1.1.7 and earlier, and it was working fine.
But now under Wine 1.1.9, the result seems to be, that the toolbar for this application first goes into a strange state, where the (Linux) cursor disappears whenever the mouse is positioned over the application's toolbar. And using winecfg to emulate a virtual desktop does not change this

Executing commands even if user hangs up.
Greetings,
I have a dialplan that calls the dictate application, but I want to do
some post-processing on the RAW file created. The post processing is
working fine as long as the dictation application exits gracefully, but
fails when the user simply hangs up.
How can I make sure the system() command is run regardless?
Example:
[test-dictation]
exten => 123,1,Dictate(/tmp/dictate)
