Re: Wine 3D performance - where does the bottleneck lies and how
The performance of WineD3D depends on the application and display drivers. It is hard to say where we are losing the performance and whether it is WineD3D which has to be blamed. To find out where the performance is lost you need to profile the app using e.g. sysprof or oprofile. Then you can see where the time is spent. Typically we don't spend a lot of time in Wine code but outside Wine in

Registry setting question...
Is there a way to set registry key, other then editing system.reg/user.reg file? For DIB engine we can export WINEDIB=ON or edit registry, is this the case with other registry keys as well? Need advice on which native dlls to try
Hi Folks! I'm completely new to wine, so please be gentle with me! I am trying to run Curious Labs' Poser4 under Tuesday's CVS snapshot on RedHat 6.2 without any native DLLs so far. All I get is one of those famous 'Critical section 0x... wait timed out' errors. Conventional knowledge says try some native DLLs - but which ones? Here is a list of DLLs and modules loaded:

Wine, ICC compilation and performance tests.
Hello everyone. As some of you know, I was able to compile wine with Intel C++ Compiler (ICC), compilation log is located here: http://wine.x.pl/wine-1.1.38-ICC-compilation.log.tar.gz Some tests failed, and dxgi failed to compile (this is only related to DX10 I think), anyway all apps I tested worked fine (Red Faction 1 & 2, 3DMark 2000,2001SE,2003,Foobar2000,Operation Flashpoint), so I did

Anyways, just curious, not to use ie in linux but mainly to get flash working since steam seems to use IE for

System DLLs
Are there "builtin" wine implementations of common Windoze DLLs (ntdll, kernal32, comdlg32, winsock etc) and if so, where do they reside? I am trying to get my own application to run using wine (without a recompile) and it continues to ask me for common windows dlls. I would like to try to get my application running without having to copy over all of the relevant windows dlls as I am

Will it be possible for Wine to run gaming emulators?
I tried to run TGB Dual emulator and MSX emulator on Wine. Both seemed to run nicely on the first glimpse, but crashed when I tried to load the game files. I did not quite expect this since I felt that those emulators were quite simple in their programming details. Will it be possible in a near future for Wine to run these kinds of gaming emulators of old gaming consoles? Or is it already

Does Wine support the NVIDIA 7186 drivers?
A query regarding WINE support for older hardware: Does Wine support the NVIDIA 7186 drivers, or are they too old and unsupported now? Following on from this post - http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=7509 and http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=6574&highlight=rome+total+war I've been playing around a bit. Weird problem with OpenGl based games (Quake 3 engine)
I will try to explain the best I can - but honestly... it may be hard to understand what I am talking about anyway... Problem is like this - whatever I try to play OpenGL based game that uses Quake 3 engine I got weird mouse "jumps". Let's take Soldier of Fortune 2 Demo as it can be downloaded for free. When in jungle I try to look left or right - mouse jumps slightly (the

windows native dlls
I've read that to get some apps working I could try coping files from native win to wine dir. It was said that some dlls do not work. I remember there was gdiplus, user32, kernel, and directx. I would like to know if there is exact list of dlls that are not going to work with wine. Or if there's script to copy dlls from native win install to wine dir.
