How can we improve WNE?
Hello everybody. I'm a (quite) happy WINE user, but i would like to propose some things to the WINE developers. Something important imo, is that it must be easy to use for the user, and some things could be better, here are some ideas to improve it by using Winecfg: 1. Add an option to disable/enable/edit debug channels for all programs. As you may know, a lot of programs runs faster

Sid Meier's Pirates! crashes consistently
I'm running Wine v.1.1.26 on Xubuntu 9.04 on a brand-new machine from IbexPC. I installed Pirates, installed the 1.02 patch, and overwrote the executable with the No-CD exe. I can get the game to open and run, and with the right settings, it runs really well--but only for a minute or two. Then the game crashes with the following error: The program Pirates!.exe has encountered a serious

NWN2 Unable to Detect 3D error.
Hi. I'm running Ubuntu 8.10, My video card is Radeon x1600 with 512 of memory, and 3D graphics. My computer is a Core 2 duo, Wine version 1.0 This same setup ran the game before I ripped out Windows and switched to Ubuntu. I downloaded the Linux driver from the ATI/Radeon site, and installed it. But Wine doesn't seem to know about it. I tried running the windows driver in WINE but it did

Morrowind with a GMA 950
I'm having problems getting morrowind to run on a GMA 950. I'm on wine version 1.1.10 and I'm running Ubuntu Intrepid. The launcher works fine, but when I click play, the window pops up and there's just noise there. The music plays, but the graphics don't show up at all. I made the changes to the morrowind.ini file as indicated in the HOWTO on the app page for it. I also tried

Test: patch to add adva, ced d3d settings in winecfg
Hello everybody... My patch to add advanced d3d settings in winecfg is almost ready. In fact, i only have to figure out how to detect video memory size to display it when no key is set to force it or to reset. Stefan D told me to use DirectDraw, but i wouldn't find. So that is the last thing (except some better naming...) to do for this patch. Everything works well and i would like some

[PATCH] drm/nouveau: kill nouveau_ttm_fault_reserve_notify handler to prevent useless buffer moves
I have no idea what this bogus restriction on placement is, but it breaks decoding 1080p VDPAU at boot speed. With this patch applied I only need to bump the vdec clock to get real-time 1080p decoding. It prevents a lot of VRAM <-> VRAM buffer moves. This is my wine day: subpixel-AA is here
This makes may day; it actually makes my week! I can't believe the genius wine developers have implemented subpixel font anti-aliasing in 1.1.12! All the apps look 100 times better now! I have opened Word 2003 about 10 times today just to look at the new beautiful UI! I have waited for this ever since I started using wine (~ 2006). This is my personal wine day! Thank so much, wine developers
