Wineserver is not shooting down
First - Wine is great. I love it totally.
To login into a company website I have to use IE6 - Firefox is not handling the Web Site due to some reglementations.
IE6 runs fine and there are NO problems. Only after exit, the Wineserver keeps running and takes away a lot CPU Power. I can stop it manually (System Monitor -> Process. Right Click and I can stop it (and it relieves the Power from the

wineserver listening port 2001
Hello,
I'm running wine for 2 windows programs under ubuntu and it is working quite well.
But now I need the port 2001 open for an application (and I'm not able to switch this port as the application does not allow it :( ).
As I see in netstat -ap the wineserver is listening to this port 2001. (tcp 0 0 *:2001 *:* LISTEN

wineserver: /root/.wine/config is not a valid registry file
Hi!
When I'm trying to run wine (I've tried many compilations), I got something
like that:
wineserver: /root/.wine/config is not a valid registry file
Why I'm not using /etc/wine.conf, /usr/etc/wine.conf or
/usr/local/etc/wine.conf? Because wineserver wants only
$HOME/.wine/config...
When I delete this file wineserver 'says' that I don't have configuration

Wineserver causing heavy CPU load
I am running Fedora 8 uname -r = 2.6.24.4-64.fc8 on my box with Wine 0.9.58. When I first installed it I noticed that my CPU usage jumped and stayed at 100% with wineserver taking > 85%. I killed the wineserver process and it dropped down, however it soon jumped back up when wineserver restarted itself. I then killed it again and all related processes and disabled it from starting as a damen

wineboot && wineserver
Hi all,
I'm currently writing a simple script for a few friends to install a
soft with wine.
The point is wineserver is not in the path of my user. Should I call it
directly from /usr/lib/wine ?
Another wine bin is not found : wineboot ? Is it linked with my distro
(Kubuntu/Debian based) ? Is it included in a lib I did not install ? Is
it installed in further versions (I use 20041019,

Xrdp
The VNC server just listens to the appropriate TCP/IP port and then
runs Xvnc which does the actual VNC communication. Ideally I'd be
able to do the same thing for RDP then the daemon doesn't get any more
complicated, and a bug in the RDP layer can't crash the server.
I don't know enough about how NX works but I suspect we could do the
same thing as for VNC and RDP.

XRDB not in our centos6.8 build
I am a bit baffled on this.
We recently rebuilt all our servers to CentOS release 6.8 (Final) from
a prior 6.x centos release. We ran into a couple of problems such as
Java not working (just had to yum install java). It was installed, but
unable to create a java machine, until I yum install java solved the
problem.
But now a user (the big boss) is receiving xrdp errors. And it appears

could not exec wineserver
When I try to execute:
wine "sol.exe"
it gives this error:
-----
wine: could not exec wineserver
-----
My system is:
SuSE 7.0 (if I'tm not mistaken: glibc 2.1?)
codeweavers-wine-20010305-1.i386.rpm
itcl-3.1.0-79.i386.rpm
win98 on other partition
I already added /opt/wine/lib to /etc/ld.so.conf; this solved a previous
problem.
Can anyone help? Thanks!

http://wine.dataparty.no/rpm/unstripped/wine-cvs-unstripped-013001-1.i386.rpm

sssd problems after dc1 is no longer online
Hi all,
I hope that this request for help will be the last one, for a while to
come. Today, sernet support helped my sort out our DC mess, and they did
a great job. However, sssd no longer works, and I hope someone here can
help out.
We used to have DC1, DC2 and DC3. DC1 was the classic-upgraded, first,
'original' DC, and had to be shutdown, unfortunately. So only DC2 and

Trying to install Vmware View Agent 4.6 on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS
If you search the net, someone supposedly did this through wine on Redhat. When i tried to install i would instantly get a please reboot message. I tried wineboot, wineserver -k. I must have done a rm -rf ~/.wine a bunch when winetricks was getting checksum errors on the files. Also i checked the registry to make sure certain keys were not there. Looking in the installation log, there might

Running graphical applications from CentOS headless vm
Hi all,
I have installed a CentOS7 vm in my home server with all graphical tools installed: Gnome, Chrome, Tor Borwser, etc. My idea is to run these graphical applications from two MacOSX desktops. What I am looking for is something similar like Microsoft RDP services that supports copy and paste between client and server, sound, clipboard, etc ...
I have seen a possible solution using xrdp:

XDMCP
Dear SAMBA team:
I have a question about SAMBA
because I install red hat linux 6.2 server in our
server and it is in the NT LAN. I try to let other NT
machine log in to that linux server through Reflection
X. So I choose SAMBA. I would want to know that does
SAMBA support XDMCP ? Because Reflection X use
XDMCP broadcast and it can detect other servers on our
NT LAN. And

XDMCP - no GDM login, only gray screen with X
I'm having trouble getting the GDM login screen to show up when I
connect from a remote host. I'm using Xming on the local Windows
machine, but every time I connect to the remote server all I get is a
gray window with the X cursor. I have "Enable=true" in the [xdmcp]
section of /etc/gdm/custom.conf. IPtables is disabled. I've googled
around and read through the xdmcp page
