Directory & File Name Issues
I have successfully installed a rather large and complex enterprise architecture modeling suite of applications. It references multiple repositories which may be located anywhere on my local hard drive. However, anytime it tries to reference a location, there are always a series of random characters at the end of some of the directory names. This, of course, confuses the applications, because they

Re: Problem access a directory
VegasSam, I am new to Linux and Wine, I use ListPro (WIN) all the time and would like to install it under Wine. I would greatly appreciate it if you could summarize the steps you had to take to properly install/run ListPro under Wine (we'll just assume that I get Wine installed correctly ;-). For example, what additional directories and associated permissions did you create? Any other

Easily changing directory where program files should be installed to by default?
Dear Wine users, installing a Windows program the program?s installer should look up some registry entry(?) (ProgramFiles [2]) what folder to use to install the program files into. For Englisch installations this is normally `C: \Program Files` in my home directory. I have small space left in my home directory, so I would like to install the program files in a different location, for example

Call for translators
Hi, (This was also posted on the wine-devel mailing list last week). The code freeze for Wine-1.2 has started and we are now in a weekly release candidate cycle. This is an ideal moment for translation work. The current translations status page http://source.winehq.org/transl/index.php shows four (4) languages at a 100%. Please help us have more fully translated languages for Wine-1.2. Also

Re: Which Wine Download?
Zac, I tried your PCLinuxOS script and I am getting the following error messages configure: error: X development files not found. Wine will be built without X support, which probably isn't what you want. You will need to install development packages of Xlib/Xfree86 at the very least. Use the --without-x option if you really want this. make: *** No rule to make target `depend'. Stop.

64 bit application on 32 bit machine
Yes, that's right! I tried a search, but the (Google) search engine told me that I don't know what I am talking about! I downloaded an application DfuSe, and tried to install it. Wine installer told me that I needed another program and offered to download. I agreed, but this was unsuccessful. However the Install Wizard went ahead and installed. But trying to run was a failure. Today, I

Re: Trying to run RIFT on OS X 10.6 and Having DirectX Issues
This type of problem usually occurs when setup d3dx9_29.dll is missing from your computer. This dll file can be downloaded from here. http://dllcentral.com/d3dx9_29.dll/9.11.519.0000/ Download it and then extract the downloaded zip file to the Windows System32 folder, which is located in Windows Drive.

Hey, all, Running Wine 20050111 under SuSE 9.2 (SuSE 9.2 package from sourceforge.net). Wine was working fine until about an hour ago; I had several programs installed and working and did not have this error (afaik). Then I decided to install Septerra Core ( http://www.lith.com/sites/septerra/ , don't download the demo, though; it is of no use in debugging, because the demo install does
