Nouveau doesn't use the maximal resolution of my screen and GPU
Hi everybody, I'm using Lubuntu 14.04 on an old desktop PC with a NVIDIA GeForce 7600 GS and a screen of 19 inches. The maximal resolution of my screen with Nvidia drivers is 1280x1024. (In particular, I use the Nvidia 331.89 driver) With Nouveau driver, the maximal resolution falls to 1024x768. Is there a solution for increasing the maximum resolution with Nouveau ? Best regards,

Red Alert 2: Yuri's Revenge much slower with 0.9.16
RA2:YR is a 2D game - I think it probably uses DirectDraw. It runs slower with 0.9.16 and now the in game cursor flickers. Besides minor audio problems it ran fine in 0.9.15. I tried setting HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\Direct3D\DirectDrawRenderer to "gdi". It made no difference. Is that the corrent way to turn off the new DirectDraw changes?

Selecting 'Configure Wine' brings up the 'grey' screen but nothing I do to it seems to function. I opened the terminal and typed 'winecfg' and stuff happens like: 'bob at

GV98 adapter, experience with nouveau
I'm trying to put to work the nouveau driver on slackware 64 bits current, kernel 4.4.*. I've thought the hardware to be some obscure OEM variant of GT610. However, kind soul on IRC pointed out that it's a G98 really, 'GeForce 9300 GS or 8400 GS'. Proprietary NVIDIA drivers: * 340.96 installs okay, console works, but X doesn't start, with unspecified error occuring

Tried to load a theme, didn't work. No error message.
I searched every wine forum and wiki I could find, but there's no information on wine theming. I downloaded an *.msstyles file, and opened it with winecfg (Desktop Integration->Install theme...). Nothing changed. The style I selected didn't even get added to the list - the only option is still "(No Theme)". There was no error message. wine 0.9.8 This is the style I tried:

Screen not changing from 640x480 to 800x600 - "Shogun - Total War"
Wine 9.30 Slackware 11 ATI FireGL 5200 (Propriatory drivers) I found Shogun in a shop as a 'Classic' game and I've been trying to get it to work using Wine. Shogun uses Safedisc and so does not work in it's, ahem, original form. However it can, shall we say, be persuaded to get over it's difficulties and at least run. This is where I am now. I have the game running and
