Deadlocks in Powerpoint 2000
Hi, I'm trying to run MS-Office under wine. As lang as I'm running the applications from ${HOME}/.wine everything is working to my liking. But when I try to put the .wine-directory to an other place I get problems with Powerpoint. I tested a lot to get Word and Excel running when installed in a read-only directory. I used some symbolic links to place files and directories, which need to

Deadlock with ATA disk on FreeBSD 4.8 Stable
Hi Soeren, We encounter here a deadlock with a quite new ATA 120GB disk. The disk worked good for about 3 weeks, but now we have a strange problem. There seems to be one defective file on the disk. fsck doesn't find it, and if I do a cat file > /dev/null The machine locks completly. Serial console is dead, no remote DDB via ALTBREAK possible anymore, no panic message, just freezed. The

Hi, I tried to get HL running with Wine, but some problems occured: With fresh HL-Installation it keeps asking me for the HL-CD even if I mounted it correctly. Drive setup of wine is correct (isn't complaining about a missing drive) I read that installing 1.1.0.8 helps, so I did, but with this patch HL is not even starting, errormsg is There may be more fonts available - try increasing the

[PATCH] Fix request_module/modprobe deadlock in netfront accelerator
There would seem to be a potential deadlock in the netfront accelerator plugin support. When the configured accelerator changes in xenstore, netfront tries to load the new plugin using request_module(). It does this from a workqueue work item. request_module() will invoke modprobe which in some circumstances (I''m not sure exactly what - I''ve not managed to reproduce it myself)

NV25 doesn't draw most icons
Hello! I've installed Fedora 20 Mate i386 on an old system with GeForce4 Ti 4200 AGP (NV25) and I see significant visual defects. Many icons are not shown. They can reappear if they are selected of the mouse goes over them. Screenshot: http://red-bean.com/proski/nv25/screenshot.png All entries on the left should have icons, but only two have them. The problem goes away I create a file

Windowing bug under KDE4.1
I've replaced my video card and am now having MUCH better results with CounterStrike:Source (I love Wine!). Most of my problems were due to a defective EVGA 9600GT. However, I discovered a new windowing bug today with CS:S and other Source-based games (I verified the same behavior under the Zombie Panic total conversion) running under KDE4.1 (no Compiz, Kubuntu 8.10b1). Do this: 1) Start

I agree this is an interesting idea ... The use case that made me ask this is here : I've got a running system which is working ok up to a moment it stops to dial out on ISDN-BRI spans (incoming calls are ok). When
