Wine trying to run everything from \\windows\\system32
Okay, I'm a complete newb... but I don't think this is the way things should be happening.
I've installed Wine 1.0 (and uninstalled and tried 0.96... same problem) on Ubuntu 8.04 and I'm trying to install Dreamweaver 8.
By all accounts, this should be a simple double-click on the exe, but nothing happens. Running the install from terminal results in:

how to share wine programs between users?
Hi,
I installed Office 2007 under my account, but mostly it is my wife that needs to use it.
I hadn't realized that installs apply only to the particular user account.
Isn't there a way to install software such that wine can use it for any user on the system?
I tried moving my .wine directory to /home/.wine and then symlinking ~/.wine, but that only works for me... if I try it under my

Hello,
Currently I'm moving over to linux. I got fedora core 7, and I've been running it on a virtual machine.
There is one piece of software I can't live without. It's called writeitnow:

Wine is installed on my box.
When I run the application I get the following error message:

does WINE run on MAC OS and OpenVMS
Hi all,
I have two queries regarding WINE.
1) Is there support for VMS(OpenVMS) and MAC OS in WINE. I mean that can I install/build WINE over OpenVMS OS and MAC OS.
2) I have heard that WINE doesnot have support for WIN64 bit API's. Is this true that I cannot port WIN64 applications via WINE on Linux 64 bit.
If this is possible for anyone among you then plz list the name of all the OS where

Bug 13517: Forums breaking mailing list
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13517
Is Wine going to have to lose even more experienced users over a stupid
bug? Does WineHQ really value new users over those who have the
knowledge and are willing to help? Let's move towards resolution on
this and consolidate on Google Groups already, before it's too late.

RFC: Potential idea to consolidate forums and lists
I'm making a request for comments in an effort to bring a minor but
nagging bug to some kind of multilaterally-beneficial conclusion, and
deliberately held off until after the 1.0 release in case this turns out
to be a bigger deal than originally anticipated.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13517
The first proposed suggestion is that a more consistent method for

Rise of Nations, not working under Debian.
This may be a dumb one. For some reason I switched from Fedora 8 to Debian 4. In each case I was running Wine 0.9.58. Same machine with same geForce NV18 video chip. The Rise of Nations: Thrones & etc. demo worked (as I recall) under Fedora but does not run under Debian. The game tells me that the video card is not supported. I checked the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file and it seems to have IDed the
