How to use apps and DLLs from XP partition?
I have a Dell Latitude D600 with Windows XPsp2 on the first partition
and Ubuntu Feisty (Linux kernel 2.6.20) with Wine 0.9.30 on the second
partition, set up to dual-boot. The XP share is NTFS and mounted
read-only for Linux.
What I want to do is run my Windows apps from the XP partition under
Wine, because I really hate using Windows.
A lot of the apps seem to ask for DLLs they can't find.

Wine trying to run everything from \\windows\\system32
Okay, I'm a complete newb... but I don't think this is the way things should be happening.
I've installed Wine 1.0 (and uninstalled and tried 0.96... same problem) on Ubuntu 8.04 and I'm trying to install Dreamweaver 8.
By all accounts, this should be a simple double-click on the exe, but nothing happens. Running the install from terminal results in:
Code:

how to share wine programs between users?
Hi,
I installed Office 2007 under my account, but mostly it is my wife that needs to use it.
I hadn't realized that installs apply only to the particular user account.
Isn't there a way to install software such that wine can use it for any user on the system?
I tried moving my .wine directory to /home/.wine and then symlinking ~/.wine, but that only works for me... if I try it under my

I can see when clicking on a tab, something happens but cannot tell the name
of the tab nor what it displays after clicking on it. Does anyone know how to

Wine slowing up games on each release?
Hello!
Now i'm using Wine since 2 years and i always played GTA San Andreas with
Wine, together with other games. Every Wine version is getting better and
better and i saw a lot of games working simply by waiting it was
implemented...
Wine is now IMO becoming good for new games, they are more and more
supported, less things to patch... But games are working, but getting slower
and slower!

does WINE run on MAC OS and OpenVMS
Hi all,
I have two queries regarding WINE.
1) Is there support for VMS(OpenVMS) and MAC OS in WINE. I mean that can I install/build WINE over OpenVMS OS and MAC OS.
2) I have heard that WINE doesnot have support for WIN64 bit API's. Is this true that I cannot port WIN64 applications via WINE on Linux 64 bit.
If this is possible for anyone among you then plz list the name of all the OS where

Usefull dll overrides
I've been trying to get a game running that is sooo close, but just not there, and I see from the Office 2007 thread that other people are pretty much shooting in the dark about which dll overrides are useful for different things too.
I was wondering if we could gather the different overrides that work for different apps and put them in one place, maybe make it sticky? Maybe we need one
