Wikipedia article
Hi there,
I've been having a go at improving the Wikipedia article:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theora
I've updated the technical details a bit, improved the references,
tidied up the wording, removed some FUD, updated the 1.1 beta status,
and added the Youtube comparisons.
I've left out the Google On2 purchase for now as there's nothing
concrete yet.
Please let me know if

Running .NET programs under Wine
I want to run AutoWikiBrowser, which is a browser especially optimised
for editing Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP%3AAWB
It's open source, but it's only available as a .NET 2 program for
Windows. I try to run it and I get:
fun@paris:~/My Downloads$ AutoWikiBrowser/AutoWikiBrowser.exe
install the Windows version of Mono to run .NET executables
I install Mono for

Please review Network Virtualization page for Wikipedia
Hi Everyone -
Here is a draft of the first of two "pages" that I will submit to Wikipedia. The first page is a general network virtualization page. From this page, I will contribute a subpage on the Crossbow projects. These two articles are the first of a number of online articles on Crossbow that I''ll be creating on behalf of the Crossbow iteam.
The article uses

Wikipedia plots and tables?
Hello, All:
What facilities exist for plots and tables of data in the
standard MediaWiki software beyond the obvious standards?
The standard MediaWiki tables and graphics capabilities seem to
me to be rather clumsy, and I wonder if I'm missing some available
extensions?
The standard MediaWiki tables are described in a Wikipedia
article on "Help:Table".

Camping on Wikipedia
Hi all
I found the Camping page on Wikipedia in need of some serious TLC, so
I updated it, added some newer links and removed the ''stub'' status:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camping_%28microframework%29
I also pointed people to the Github repo for version 1.9.
Please take a look and either make suggestions for further material
for me to add (not too much...

Coefficient of determination in a regression model with AR(1) residuals
Dear R-users,
I used lm() to fit a standard linear regression model to a given data
set, which led to a coefficient of determination (R^2) of about
0.96. After checking the residuals I realized that they follow an
autoregressive process (AR) of order 1 (and therefore contradicting
the i.i.d. assumption of the regression model). I then used gls()
[library nlme] to fit a linear

AutoWikiBrowser (.NET 2.0 app) with mono 1.9
AutoWikiBrowser (AWB) is a Wikipedia-oriented browser for doing
repetitive editing:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:AWB
AWB is a .NET 2.0 application. It doesn't work in Wine under Mono 1.2:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8499
- but I see Mono 1.9 (preview of 2.0) is out, so decided to give it a go:

It doesn't actually

Creating URLs like Wikipedia.org
Anyone know of a utility that creates URLs similar to those used on
Wikipedia and such sites? (foo.com/URLs_Like_This). I could quite easily
do this with gsub and/or some regular expressions, but I''d rather used a
tried and true function just incase I miss something important.
Cheers

Wine runs your malware!
http://www.trustedsource.org/blog/186/Running-Windows-Malware-in-Linux
So: avoid running toxic waste, and use a fresh .wine and run ClamAV
over it regularly if you're fond of trying random binaries found on
the Net a lot ;-)

The pros and cons of a wiki AppDB

There are a lot of apps without maintainers, and there might be users of those apps who would be willing take a few minutes to post bits of useful information in a wiki, but don't want the responsibility of being a maintainer. Sure, they could just post info in a comment, but user comments are

Italicize journal article in mid text
Hi,
I need to italicize the journal in a citation but have thus far failed. How
can I make 'Journal of Something' below italic but leave the rest plain?
mtext( "See Author1 and Author2 (2007) , \"Title\", Journal of Something ,
pp. 1-50.", side = 3, outer = T, line=-0.75, cex = 0.7, at= 0.04, adj = 0,
font = 1, family = "Times")
Thanks

Wine on OpenBSD
Hi,
I was just wondering if there is any ongoing effort to get wine
ported to OpenBSD.
The wine version in their ports tree is from 1999 or so.

WoW FPS under Wine?
I recall this old post:
http://msmvps.com/blogs/plenderj/archive/2007/07/14/foray-into-feisty-fawn-helped-me-take-back-my-mips.aspx
This was in Ubuntu 7.04 days.
What are current test results like for WoW on Windows XP versus WoW on
Ubuntu/Wine these days?
