Low FPS Skyrim with 560 Ti... Expecting too much?
Hey guys. I just got Skyrim running in Arch Linux with wine 1.4RC3, and my framerate seems pretty low. I'm using an Evga GTX 560 Ti 448 core classified, an i5 2500k OC'd at 4.5ghz, and 16gb ddr3 at 1600. The 560 ti is running the latest Nvidia beta drivers. The average framerate is around 30 fps on ultra. Is that about what I should expect from that hardware, or is this a wine thing?

ffmpeg2theora: FPS issues with M2T
Hi,
I'm just attempting to re-encode some 720p HD (720x576) mpeg2-transport
files to theora using ffmpeg2theora. However it seems impossible to get
the framerate right; if I leave it on default the framerate seems to be
doubled, if I force input fps to 50 it seems to go half speed. The
files play fine with ffplay however. Has anyone got any clues?
Cheers,
Steve

2 versions of wine in the same PC ?
hello,
I found a bug in Wine 1.2 and reported it on bugzilla. This bug has a very simple workaround, but I would like to see if it is still present in Wine 1.3 beta.
Is it possible to have 2 versions of Wine simultaneously installed on the same system, or will they disturb each other ?
Of course wine uses a .wine directory, but is there a trick, such as using .wine1 and .wine2 ??

WoW: Low FPS
When I start wow and get logged into my character, my FPS will be high, like 75, then after 30 seconds or less maybe, it will drop for 20 FPS.
I've tried all the fixes I read about on the WoW WineHQ page and thats how I got up to 75 fps for that short while (before, it was like 35 fps, which dropped to 15 fps)
Some info on my setup:
Ubuntu 9.04 (64 bit)
Kernel 2.6.28-14-generic
Wine 1.1.26

Source Engine games - Low FPS (Wine 1.3.15)
The AppDB lists Team Fortress 2 as Platinum. It says it should run "flawlessly out-of-the-box."
In Windows, I can max out all of the settings and get a steady 100+ FPS.
In Wine, I have to set everything to Low, and even then, I still only get 20-30 FPS, occasionally dropping down into the 0-10 range when multiple players are on the screen.
That doesn't sound flawless. Aside from

Time in video file
Hi
I'm trying to store video I encode to a file using Theora and Ogg. The
video I record is from my webcam and although the framerate is set to
30 fps I rarely get more then 28-29 fps. Since Theora is fed with a
framerate which isn't precise the time of each frame when I play it in
VLC doesn't match the exact time of when the frame occurred. So
basically I wonder how can I sync a

[ubuntu 11.10] Wow with low fps
I have done some research and I haven't found any other answer but the following:

Very low FPS in Wine/Ubuntu vs WindowsXP
New on Linux and Wine. I like most of what I see. Here is one problem I don't understand. I run dualboot Windows XP / Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx with Wine 1.3.6. Graphics - GeForce 9500 GT with Linux driver 195.36.24
Tested World of Warcraft and compared framerates in XP vs Ubuntu/Wine. With all parameters the same (same Config.wtf file with OpenGL set), same in-game options, same character,

Webcam streaming with ptalarbvorm
Hey all! I'm sure you've all been missing my webcam stream, so I
decided to start it up again (also, I wanted to do it for my family
overseas).
However, this time, I'm doing things a little bit differently. For
starters, the encoder is the current (as of about an hour ago)
ptalarbvorm branch which is destined to become libtheora 1.2. Another
difference is that I'm using

Artifacts on external monitor with Optimus and GK107 on Thinkpad W530
Hi there,
last week I installed Ubuntu Gnome 14.04 on my Thinkpad W530. It has the
following specifications:
Intel Core i7-3820QM
Intel HD 4000 and nVidia Quadro K2000M
15,6" FHD RGB 1920x1080
With "Optimus" enabled in the BIOS, I am able to use the external monitor via
VGA-1-2. But there are refresh problems only on the external monitor: Mouse

Artificial Planet - How to run with Wine ?
Hello, I am looking to run this program with Wine: http://aiplanet.sourceforge.net
When I run it with Wine, the Logo appears, which looks great. After the logo, however, it just exits. I think it is an OpenGL error!
Code:
~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/ai.planet$ wine aiplanet.exe

Discrete card is always off even if it is used
Hi,
I have a computer with an integrated graphic card and a discrete graphic

Tip: Overlay frames per second on fullscreen 3d games
It's often handy to be able to see the current frames per second when testing a game under wine as it allows you to pinpoint where frame rate problems occur and how serious they are. It's easy to get the framerate from wine by setting WINEDEBUG=fps. However, it's not easy to track framerate changes as you play when the game runs fullscreen. Fraps[1] is a good solution to this problem

Force window fullscreen
Hi all,
I'm looking for a way to force a certain window on my desktop to go
fullscreen. The window in question is from Enemy Territoy, it tries to
go fullscreen, but for some reason doesn't work, and stay always
redirected with obvious framerate slowdown (keep 6-7 fps average on a FX
5200). I was thinking something like xwinwrap, which you can call a
process and force his window to

oggcat or other ways to combine theora videos (with or without re-encoding)?
hi guys,
first of all, i'd like to ask if there any crossplatform software/service ( gui is also better, an online application like firefogg is great, or at least a command line tools for any platform) to combine theora videos, other than oggcat...
i am doing some art projects that people should be able to remix featured theora videos and i find oggcat very usefull in theory but not in

oggz-merge.exe
Hi folks,I'm joining this list because I've encountered difficulties with
the ogg tools.
I'm running Windows, and can't find binaries for liboggz tools, such as
oggz-merge.exe
Can someone provide oggz-merge.exe?
So I use ffmpeg (v19289) for muxing
ffmpeg -y -i sync2.ogg -i sync.ogv -vcodec copy -acodec copy sync2.ogv
but the framerate fluctuates wildly on playback, and ogginfo

Trying to run (tweak) a few games on Wine
Hello,
I'm a relatively new user to Linux, it's only been two weeks since I'm using it. I'm trying to run two games right now : Halo and Live for Speed. Here are the issues for each.
Halo :
Performance in Halo is excellent, it's actually better in Linux than it was in Windows XP. Frame rate is good, looks like solid 60 FPS all the time. The only problem is the mouse movement

gstreamer oggmux and variable framerate
Hallo all,
I currently hacking on cheese an got problem with variable framerate
produced by webcams (2-30fps). There is no problem to encode it with
theora, but problem to mux it in ogg. Or at least to play produced file.
There is no problem tu mux it in to matroska.
My question is: should actually ogg support timestamps, also variable
framerate? If yes: it seems to be some where broken.
Here
