Cleaning up a WINE install.
I was installing a game, and I made the mistake of agreeing to install
DirectX. I'm guessing this can screw up your WINE. Is there any way to
clean up my WINE after doing something like that without having to
reinstall all my software?

Playing Gamemaker 6 and 7 games on OSX?
I have recently gotten back into making a games with gamemaker. I had a big game that I didn't finish on my old computer running Windows XP. But then my stupid sister dropped my laptop done the stairs. That was about 2 months ago, and I got a new laptop running OSX because my parents hate Windows (while I love it). I was looking through a flashdrive with my stuff from my old laptop on it

Ragnarok Online - Can't update the client (details inside)
Hello. This is my first post here, as until now I wasn't missing any Windows program. As at the moment I can spare some free time I wanted to do a brief come back to Ragnarok Online.
The problem that I found is that the installer crashes every single time I start the game (image link) (http://ompldr.org/vNXpheg), and then it becomes irresponsible (image link) (http://ompldr.org/vNXpiOA).

HFSPlus Question
In CentOS 7.2.1511 does the 3.10.0-327.18.2.el7.centos.plus.x86_64 (Plus)
kernel read HFSPlus iMac drives? I don't see any hfsplus modules installed
anywhere, so I suspect not. My sister's 17" iMac died, and I'm trying to
recover the drive. If it spins up, I'd like to copy it with dd.
I see that Elrepo has kmod-hfsplus and hfsplus-tools, will these work with
the Plus kernel?

MakeTestFailures
http://wiki.winehq.org/MakeTestFailures
I downloaded and compiled from bleding-edge git and ran these last
night. I boggled slightly when the unit testing actually crashed X
(Kubuntu Hardy, kwin) - is anyone else getting this? I ran the tests
again in failsafe (just a naked xterm - or, rather, konsole - and no
window manager) and they finished and submitted OK.

Wine on OpenBSD
Hi,
I was just wondering if there is any ongoing effort to get wine
ported to OpenBSD.
The wine version in their ports tree is from 1999 or so.

Wine runs your malware!
http://www.trustedsource.org/blog/186/Running-Windows-Malware-in-Linux
So: avoid running toxic waste, and use a fresh .wine and run ClamAV
over it regularly if you're fond of trying random binaries found on
the Net a lot ;-)

The pros and cons of a wiki AppDB
2009/3/7 Rosanne DiMesio <dimesio at earthlink.net>:
> I can think of one possible benefit. There are a lot of apps without maintainers, and there might be users of those apps who would be willing take a few minutes to post bits of useful information in a wiki, but don't want the responsibility of being a maintainer. Sure, they could just post info in a comment, but user comments are

Ubuntu users, please upgrade to Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy for Wine 0.9.60 and later
To prevent conflicts when upgrading to 8.04, older releases will no
longer be getting Wine updates. Ubuntu Hardy will be released this
Thursday, and contains many fixes that also affect Wine, such as support
for some missing libraries in the 64 bit version.
By default, Ubuntu's update manager will disable third party
repositories on upgrade, which will leave you with the Wine included in

This is call for volunteers to try out some modifications to icecast for

MSN Messenger in Wine?
It's marked "garbage" in the appdb, because the installer doesn't run
without quite a bit of tweaking. But anyway ...
I want to get MSN working in Wine. It's for my girlfriend's daughter,
whose XP box just got trashed by a virus/rootkit (spread via MSN, of
course). So we've saved her stuff and we're nuking and paving the box.
I would like to use Ubuntu instead of

Firefox on Wine as preferred browser
Not just for dogfooding, but because it's actually faster than running
the native binary:
The reason is not clear - hypotheses include MSVC++ builds being much
better optimised than gcc builds. I'm sure people are investigating
closely.
Anyway, I just reinstalled Ubuntu 8.10 and put KDE 4.2 on top and
*didn't* install the distro Firefox. No, I got Shiretoko (FF 3.1
nightly) win32

Wine 20050930 and Barbie Beauty Styler
Hi,
I just installed FC4 and Wine-20050930 for my sister from this place:

Thanks for the compilation, Dieter!
My sister's daughter has whined for "Barbie Beauty Styler", so
I tried installing it. The installation from the CD root kept

my notes on bond, bridge, network, kvm, host and virtual so far
I put this page together just so I won't spam the board anymore begging
for help..lol
http://bobhoffman.com/vmissue.html
This shows a working effort of bonded eths, bridged into a vm, and a few
other things.
The only missing thing is something on the host that ends up putting the
VM internet
connection into some kind of limbo.

playing with Wine on Cygwin
I'm currently playing with Wine on Cygwin on Windows 2000 on
VirtualBox. Just to see what happens. Also to see how feasible Wine on
Windows is from here.
I've been updating the http://wiki.winehq.org/CygwinSupport page accordingly.
With the 1.1.11 source tarball, I'm getting a compile error:

Help with factanal and missing values
Hi list,
I'm performing a series of confirmatory factor analysis on different
groupings of items from data collected with questionnaires. There are some
missing values.
For those sets with no missing values I call
factanal(datamatrix,factors=n)
where datamatrix is a table of all observations for the items under
investigation.
This call fails when there are missing values.
