The newest versions won't let it work. > Question is whether this > program is going backwards in some areas. That's a good question. Lately, a lot of stuff in Wine has been losing compatibility; I don't know if that's because

Printing under Wine - Mission Impossible? (solved)
I finally compiled latest 20021031 tar.gz myself with cups development deb package installed and finally got cups to work. I also send a note to the daily deb maitainer to ask him and "why not" suggest him to include this feature. Hopes he does :) -daniel http://www.debian-gnu.com >From: Duane Clark <dclark@akamail.com> >To: wine-users@winehq.com >Subject: Re:

Text handling broke.
Howdy, Sometime between Dec 14 and Jan 30, a small portion of text handling seems to have broken. I have a schematic editor application (schedit) which I have been running under wine for 7 or 8 months now. What I do is select an "Add text" menu item, a dialog pops up and I type in some text and click ok. Normally then the text would show up attached to the mouse, and I can move it to

Softlinking to a dvd-drive with inconsistent mount points?
In Suse 9.2, it was easy to softlink to a drive from /home/username/.wine/dosdevices because the mount point for the drive was always the same. That is, /media/dvdrecorder was always where the disc would get mounted. NOW, with Suse 9.3, the mount point is /media/DISC_NAME. Since each disk has a different name, there is never a consistent mount point. So, I can't make Wine's

Sonar 8 & vcrun2005
I'm trying to run Sonar 8 via Wine. I was advised to run vcrun2005, vcrun2005sp1, and run those after setting Wine to win2k, all to no avail. I started a thread here: http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-5906267.html#5906267 I'd appreciate any tips. I'm SERIOUSLY trying to leave Windows for good, but I need this program until I've got something equivalent set up under Linux. I

Home studio, Sonar's not-so-little sister will not run at all. Get "Unknown error in sequencer dll". Of course, these programs are intimately optimized for windows drivers and

Text formatting string problem
Howdy, Running a FPGA design tool (Actel's Designer), I find that it works pretty good, but that certain printed status strings are being formatted incorrectly. It does not seem to affect the operation of the application, except for the status reports. For example, running wine --debugmsg +text,+string,+win /d/Actel/bin/designer and opening an existing design gives this:

Trying to start Cakewalk Sonar (Music Production Program)
Good Morning im trying to get a program to run which is called Cakewalk Sonar Producer x1. Its a music production software by the way http://www.cakewalk.com/products/sonar/X1-Producer/. The installation runs through but give me some errors at the point where the installer wanted to register some DLL files with the (wine)included RegSvr32.exe The DLL files are programbased and not very typical.

Detecting DirectX (Fooling an App)
I'm trying to test out Sonar XL 2.2 on wine20040814 (August) on a JDS R2 distro. Whenever I run the install program for Sonar, it says that it can't detect DirectX, thus it wants to install it. I believe with an earlier version of Wine (around the June timefame), it doesn't do this. Starting with the August release, there is great DirectSound support that I want to try. Is there

Step-by-step guide for PowerPoint under wine?
Dear All, is there a step-by-step guide on how to install PowerPoint 2000 with wine (I'm running PhotoShop 3 and UltraEdit with it, perfectly !) System: SuSE Personal 9.1, wine -version is 20040213-41. I tried to start the install with 'wine /path/to/CD-ROM/setup.exe', it takes forever and finally it returns with 'file not found'. The files are all there, expect that on the

Popup dialogs
Howdy, Prior to the major X11 changes of June, popup dialogs were nice and fast (as they should be). Since the X11 changes, the popup dialogs are very slow; 1-2 seconds to destroy one and pop up another on a 700MHz Athlon. Actually, all window creation is much slower, but I really notice it on the popup dialogs (because I use them a lot). Once the windows are open, speed seems to be quite
