OOO Game switches to fullscreen although it shouldn't
Hi to all,
I have home built wine 0.9.14 on 32bit Slackware 10.2, kernel 2.6.15.5
running on AMD64.
I recently installed the free game Out Of Order from
http://outoforder.adventuredevelopers.com/
It installed OK with default screen resolution of 640x480. My current
screen resolution is 1600x1200 and I have configured wine to run all of
the applications in a window, even if they want to

[tip] running games on a dedicated display
Hi all,
Here's a small mechanism I have built to run games in a dedicated
display. The main reasons for doing that were:
- to avoid desktop stuff to pop over my games display
- to run games in a display matching the game resolution
- to avoid manually switching my main resolution back and forth
- to avoid problems where quitting a games leaves my desktop in the
wrong resolution
The idea is

Resolutions and bits per pixel.
Greetings Gentlefolk,
It's a long time since I 'cvs updated' my wine sources. I
did that last night, and after rebuilding I was left with
three questions.
My experience was that to run an 8-bit windoze app, I
had to run wine under an X server that was running in
8bpp. This time, I forgot to switch to an 8-bit X, and to
my amazement, the app came up under 16 bpp. Way
Cool!

(?) Loss of fullscreen mode with freenx-0.5.0-8.c4
I've currently got the nx-1.5.0-1.centos4.i386, freenx-0.5.0-8.c4.noarch, and nxclient-1.5.0-141.i386 packages installed on a couple
of CentOS 4 update 3 systems and I'm getting the same results on all of them. I got the new version of freenx via "yum update" and
it appears to have "broken" fullscreen mode. The connection config file I have been using does have the

Weird fullscreen behavior with 0.9.57 and 0.9.58
Hi all,
Since two WINE versions, I'm experiencing the same behavior reported in http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10755 but related to two other fullscreen'ed programs:
EVE Online v.4.10.51200 Premium
World of Warcraft 2.3.3 w/Burning Crusade
Before starting a regression (I'm ready to do that but my machine isn't the fastest kid in town, so I want to be sure it's a

Smoothly alt+cursoring in and out of fullscreen wine games
I've had CS:S installed before and there wasn't a problem.
Basically I want to be able to alt+cursor left and right out of Counter Strike: Source to my other workspaces in Ubuntu 9.10, and when I alt+cursor back to the workspace running CS:S let it still in full screen mode.
At the moment the game follows me to the new workspace minimized, and I have to manually click on it in my lower

Fullscreen programs
When I exit a wine program that was running in fullscreen mode, it
leaves the cyan background (that you see if you use a virtual desktop
in wine) over my window manager. To refresh the screen I have to do
something like log out and back in, or press alt+ctrl+# to switch to
another display and then switch back. Also, for some programs the
window manager is left in a different resolution than I

Game won't go fullscreen
Alright. So I'm trying to play a game in fullscreen mode but it keeps getting forced into a 640x480 box in the corner of my main monitor. I've got a dual-head NVIDIA card (7900GT) hooked up to two monitors via DVI with TwinView and I'm running Ibex 8.10, KDE 4.1.4.
I've run it in the terminal and I get errors referencing XRandR and how it doesn't have 640x480 @60 listed as

Freenx full screen mode problem fixed in 0.5.x?
In early June, there was an update from freenx 0.4.x to 0.5.x in
centosplus. It broke full screen mode for Linux clients. I am aware of
the ctrl-alt-f workaround. But I have quite a few users at branch
offices who depend on NX and with employee turnover and all, it has been
a source of confusion for us. Has anyone come up with a fix so that
fullscreen works without crtl-alt-f? I've

Trouble with X and vnc-4.0-8.1.i386 on Centos 4.4
I have recently migrated from an old, RedHat Linux 9 - based system (Aurox
9.2) to Centos 4.4.
I am having trouble with vnc causing X unusable until reboot.
By unusable I mean that X screen is either blank or blinking and moving, which
is not cured by X restart until reboot.
My system is:
Compaq EVO D510 SFF
CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.80GHz
RAM: 256 MB

Window Manager can't controll Fullscreen windows
"allow the window manager to control the windows" is checked off, but whenever I run a fullscreen program, Gnome seems to have no control over the windows other than being able to close them. Can't minimize, alt-tab out, or bring up the window menu.
This showed up sometime after 1.3.19, but i haven't been able to find anyone talking about it. Is anyone else having problems with

zooming wine windows?
Hi,
I have the following issue, and I wonder if Wine support such a feature.
I have a game (Fallout 1), that natively runs in full screen, at a
resolution of 640x480. The game itself does not support other resolutions.
I have the option to run the game fullscreen with wine - which works
fine. But this is not what I want to do.
I can run the game in a window (using the virtual desktop feature

Revisited - No fullscreen on FreeNX
This topic came up some time back and I pretty much ignored it, but the "itch" came back to find out why. Searching through the
FreeNX/knx list came up with the reason sessions did not come up full-screen even though the session definition was set to fullscreen.
Apparently there is an oversight in /usr/bin/nxnode, the script is never retrieving the fullscreen flag from the parameters

Fullscreen Refresh rate problem...
Hello to everybody.
I was wondering... is there a way to force wine to use always highest
possible refrash rate - when I ran a game in Fullscreen? I ask because
- for excample my good old Incubation works flawless on wine (testet
with wine 0.9.27 and 0.9.28) but when I switch to fullscreen(640x480
for this game) the refresh rate is only at 60 HZ - and my eyes hurts
after a while... (mty monitor

AW: Xen Express 4.0 - Console
Not really. The DomU and Dom0 keyboard layout is correct.
But the problem is the XenCenter Console. It doesn''t allow the use of CTRL+ALT (or ALTGR). Every time you press these keys, the console-fullscreen mode is toggled.
But if you hold the CTRL+ALT Key and keep pressing the < key, the character appears in the console. But it sucks - you have always pay attention when you want to

Thanks
Thanks for the help guys. To resize my screen I had to go through the GUI
part and change it but unlike Microsoft it makes me reboot in order for it
to take affect which sucks. The Ctrl Alt +/- does not work.
As for adding a printer someone finally gave me the link to the correct
document which showed how to do it. I received a link where you can download
the CentOS manual in PDF format:

Ubuntu 10.04 + Wine minimizing trouble.
Hello, when I run a fullscreen app through WINE such as WoW and I ctrl-alt-d to do something on the desktop then try to go back to the game my WINE window is no longer full screen, it shows up in the middle of the desktop at about 1/2 the size of the screen. Before the new Ubuntu update all I had to do was switch workspaces and switch back, but now that isn't working.
Any ideas?

Ctrl-Alt-F? bindings broken under xen 3.0.3-142.el5_9.1 / 2.6.18-348.1.1.el5xen?
I am not sure what I did, but for some reason Ctrl-Alt-F? bindings are
broken on 64-bit xen desktop machine (but not on my laptop (32-bit, no
xen)). Both machines are (mostly) up-to-date and running CentOS 5.9.
I rarely hop to different Virtual Consoles (eg Ctrl-Alt-F1 ...
Ctrl-Alt-F7), but today I wanted to go to the main console to watch
some kernel verbage (I was checking something with

cant swith to text mode consoles
After installing xfce I switched to runlevel 5 to have a graphic login.
But The login box (and xfce) doesnt let me switch to text consoles with
ctrl+alt+F key. Also, xfce is the desktop for root, but for normal user
still is an ugly windows manager.
