Hi all,
This is a total newbe mistake I'm sure but I'm stumped. I have

I can get all the way through the setup of halflife sound test and all,

cut and paste problem
Dear all,
I am new to wine and try to use it to replace vmware for
word/powerpoint applications. The first problem that I encounter is
that I am unable to cut and paste under all the applications
(notepad/word/powerpoint).
It seems that the issue is related to the clipboard behavior because
when I cut (under notepad) I get an error message stating: "Empty clipboard".
Which is kind of

Running ChildView under Wine 20021031 - Codepage 850?
Hello fellow Wine users:
I'm in the process of moving all our desktops over from Windows 98 to
Linux (via LTSP), and we've got everything aced except for one &*!^* app.
We've run Amicus Attorney underneath wine for some time now, and it
works a treat. However, Childview has proved to be... somewhat more
reluctant.
As far as apps go, it isn't that complicated. It's

? Setting up Samba-Mirrors for Home-Drives
Hi List!
I would like to replace a big NT-Server serving homedirectories
only for about 150 Users (WinNT 4.0) with a pool of some
Linux (Intel) machines running Samba.
To increase performance i thought about using multiple machines (3-4)
with DNS-load-balancing.
The machine running the DNS will periodicly check all mirrors
and remove them from the IP-chain if malfunctioning. Clients will

Tribes 1.x & Wine
Has anyone ever tried to actually get a tribes server
running under wine or another emulator?
Just the other day i was setting up a linux counter-strike server.
My friend asked me if i would setup a Tribes 1.0 or 1.11 server.
I thought linux would be a great way to do it.
I was trying to run a headless / dedicated starsiege tribes server (1.0/1.11)
I Installed the tribes files (including the

Printing with wine
Ooops, I guess a suject will get some of you to read this, hey?
Hi All,
Wondering if there is a document that tells how to get wine printing through
a cups printer working? Yes I know the wine docs say it's all magic and if
you're using cups your printing will magically work, but for some reason, it
doesn't, my wine session crashes and burns when I try to print from the

ActivateKeyboardLayout
Hi all,
I get this when using my game for every key I hit, though the keys work fine.
err:keyboard:ActivateKeyboardLayout Only default system keyboard layout supported. Call ignored.
Typing is a major pain. There is a huge delay from keypress to the letter appearing on screen,
though the correct characters are typed.
Keyboard is a Microsoft natural pro, language is english.

What about Control Panel?
I have a no-windows Wine configuration.
What happens if I install an application that a.o. adds a module to the
Windows Control Panel? Is there a fake Control Panel for this?

Samba 4.2.14 Group Policy (GPO) sync error
Forgot one extra.
On the win 10, check this reg key.
HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Hostname
It states you hostname here, but if its not in caps change it to HOSTNAME
In that register key. (HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters)
You should see also you dnsdomain at Domain and NV Domain.
NV Hostname should be in CAPS also.
The domains not.

Samba 4.2.14 Group Policy (GPO) sync error
Can you run on a failing computer :
- netdom verify yourpcname
- nslookup yourpcname
All ok?
And is time in sync?
Did you install winbind after the update and also and did you change you server services line?
Like, i use bind9 dns
My smb.conf contains only this : server services = -dns
The full line is :
samba-tool testparm -vv | grep "server service"
