dovecot and AFS
Scrolling thru the archives gives me a hint that there might be troubles with AFS together with dovecot and maildir especially the LDA Is this still an issue or should I prepare for spending time to solve it? If someone successfully got it to work in a small or large scale environment I would be happy to know about it. /Per-Erik Persson

Is there a good nntp client for Centos 6 that handles SSL native?
Is there a good nntp client for Centos 6 that handles SSL native? It was difficult, to say the least, on Centos anyway, to get Pan to post to Mixmin servers, which require SSL (so we have to use Stunnel to add SSL capabilities to Pan) on Centos. Had Pan native SSL support, this wouldn't have been a problem. Hence the question: Q: Is there a good freeware NNTP client with a Centos

Can not install Excel97/Word97
Hello! I am new to this list (although I have done a fair amount of research in the archives) and I need to ask what is probably one of the most frequently asked questions on a list like this: How do I install Word97 and Excel97? (Codeweavers CrossoverOffice can do this, and they ASSURE us that they roll everything they do back to the main wine CVS and hence, this SHOULD work!) So far; this is

confidence intervals for linear combinations when using lme
Hi I really hope someone can help me. I have just started to work with S-plus, and have not yet understood how it really works. I am now trying to fit a mixed effects model with lme. My goal is to compare four different groups, at several different time points, and I therefore would like to create confidence intervals for linear combinations of my estimated parameters (as I usually do with

Problems adding Win clients to domain
I'm not able to add Win clients to my domain anymore. I receive an error on the PC (2000 or XP): "The following error occurred attempting to join the domain "[DOMAIN]": Logon failure: unknown user name or password." But I am able to log on to the server when accessing shares and printers. This error message only appears when joining the domain. And on the Mac OS X

Finishing up the contributors list as well
Guys, OK, now that we have the new core contributors squared away, we can go back to finishing the contributors list. There were some people who got added and then there is existing contributors list. I think Darren''s suggestion to wait to add new core contributors is fine (let the new constitution settle down and we can in the meanwhile have a more inclusive look at both rather than

Samba bottlenecks
Samba bottlenecks? As my network grows I'll probably find Samba bottlenecks sooner or later - such as saturated bandwidth, internal I/O, bloated user database. Are there any signs to read foretelling the apocalypse? Are the any viable solutions? -- J?rgen Persson

Installing Excel 97, SUCCESS!!
Hi again! Yesterday I wrote to this list complaining that I could not install Excel 97. I have now succeeded. The trick was NOT to run "install.exe", but to unpack xl97_1.cab and run the acmsetup.exe in there, like so: "wine -- acmsetup.exe /T excel97.stf" (I think that excel97.stf existed in the first cab-file as well.) The installer will ask for a few files that all can

Is wine *always* mapping threads onto processes? (Was: Re: multiple inst
Yup. You're right. 1. Those are not processes since Linux 'ps' and 'top' reports threads just as it reports processes. 2. Threads reports the total amount of RAM allocated to the process it belongs to. (Excercise: what else could it report??) /Fredrik > > From: Nick Capik <ncapik@patriot.net> > Date: 2002/09/11 Wed PM 01:29:43 CEST > To: Frank Joerdens

Dovecot and "deliver" disagree on character encodings
Hi, I have a problem where Dovecot and its LDA seem to disagree on what character encoding should be used in Maildir names. I use Dovecot and Postfix on a Debian server. Mail is delivered by Dovecot LDA (called from .forward) and sorted according to a Sieve script into a number of Maildir folders in my home directory. Dovecot serves the mail over IMAP and I read it in Kmail. I originally

Some applications does not work
Hi all, I found that some applications does not work more. The last successfull version was 20050310. For testing I can propose one example : http://hem.bredband.net/alivor/ichat121b6.exe Now I try to use wine 0.9.1 under FreeBSD (KDE 3.4.0). The application above is installed fine but during start I see: fixme:system:SystemParametersInfoW Unimplemented action: 8193

repeat a function
I want to populate the matrix prb through the function HWMProb <- function (a,j,dt) that encapsulates different functions (please see code below), using j= 0:2 for each j. It only populates prb if I specify each function independently in the global environment and then run the loop with the iF statement, as per below. for (j in 0:2) { if (j==0) { prb["0","1"] <-
