Hi, I'm using Gentoo Linux and Wine 0.9.1. I had no problem to install Steam, but Halflife and it's Mods like CS doesn't work. After starting the game through Steam, the background image appears, but there are no menu entrys and the App didn't reponse anymore. If I minimize CS and maximize it again, the background didn't get repainted. When having virtual desktop disabled

Wine & Halflife success, but ...
Hello I got rid of my non-working wine installation (err: module: map_image) and downloaded the newest wine-20020228 version. I compiled it using : # .tools/wineinstall This script installed wine to /usr/local/bin :-( , but also wrote my .wine/config and registry files :-) Then I tried : $ cd /mnt/c/Games/Halflife $ wine hl.exe -- hl.exe -noipx -full -game cstrike -console And it works

Wine 20050310 / Linux 2.6.11 crashes on munmap()
I have an application ("The Rosetta Stone" 2.0.7a) which segfaults during the startup splash screen. According to strace() it is trying to munmap() an address (0x7a6b3000) which was never mmap()'d. I get identical behavior with Wine 20050111 and kernels 2.6.9 / 2.6.10 (I use gentoo-sources). I noticed some people had similar issues upgrading from 2.6.9 to 2.6.10.

halflife & wine
Well I've read all the docs/howtos for this and it's still not working for me. Everytime I try to do a 'wine hl.exe' it gives me the good ol' opengl is not supported on this device error. Nothing in the wine console. This is with build 20010112 (and also a very recent one...forget which). I did the enable-opengl configure flag. I'm trying to run it on a mandrake

I'm trying to run gothic2 demo (get it from http://www.jowood.com/gamers/?lang=de&site=2&ScreenID=6309&GameID=gothic2&pfid=PC) Installing works fine, except the fact that "BugslayerUtil.dll" got somehow an 8+3 character long filename and can't be found by wine. When renaming it, wine can find the dll and

Dungeon Keeper
Hello, Has anyone ever gotten Dungeon Keeper to successfully run under wine? I'm a newbie to wine, but I managed to get it installed and configured to the point of where it would install the game off the cd-rom. I'm using: Wine release 20010629 And I've added the usual WinMM section to the config file. Here is what wine told me when I installed the game: Linux black > wine

Something strange! Wine 1.10 doesn't want to delete stuff.
So, recentley I upgraded to the new 1.10 with apt, I am running 2.6.24-21-generic #1 SMP kernel, although I don't know why it thinks I have to have smp, I have a 2400+ sempron, my v-card is a 7300Gt nvidia. And after I upgraded, I shut it down and I went to bed. The next day, I tried to play WoW, everything was cool, no glitches, it ran noticeably faster, so I changed the graphics settings

update to earlier error msg help
Wowzer, so I have *everything* working now... tcp/ip, and the game itself, with the exception of keyboard, and maybe sound. Actually in the log, I don't see any mention of the errors for no keyboard. Anyone have any ideas, on how to turn on the keyboad, er make wine recognize it? Thanks, -tm

Windows DirectDraw?
I just tried to install an ancient detective-type RPG ( I am not up with the classifications.) (a) It offered to install DirectX. Since Wine has its own DirectX, I ignored that. (b) The game failed to run because (according to the message box) it couldn't find DirectDraw. This showed as a Fixme in the terminal, while the error message was to do with the display settings - there was no mode
