EPSXE under WINE.
Hello. This thread is to help anyone having problems with using EPSXE psx emulator in WINE. EPSXE can work in WINE, only if you install directx in WINE. WINE alone does not have directx installed with it but EPSXE requires directx to function. You would need to install directx using any game which has "Install DirectX" or something similar. The redist packages for directx found online

LVM VG disappears after kernel upgrade on 5.1
I finally got 5.1 to boot after install (install couldn't keep the disk IDs from getting crossed up, so at reboot partitions were not where install said they would be). I needed to compile vmware and nvidia modules, but decided to upgrade first. Told yumex to upgrade everything. When I went to reboot the VG with / on it is not seen by the kernel. (root partition is LVM on top of RAID

Using a shared LVM volume group for both virtual disks and host filesystems
Hi I have a test environment where a single LVM volume group is used both as a storage pool for virtual machines' disks AND for the LVs used for the HOST system filesystem. I never use libvirt commands to start/stop/activate the pool. Only to create/delete volumes. The test environment works fine. How suitable would be a shared VG for a production environment ? thanks, Edoardo Comar

winxp + sambs 2.2.3a (as PDC) + printers = no go
Greetings. Here's my scenario: 1) I have a linux box running samba 2.2.3a, configured as a PDC. 2) I have a WinXP laptop that attempts to use the printers that are configured on the samba server. NOTE: XP Laptop is NOT, repeat: NOT, in the domain that the samba box controls. The XP boxs is part of a workgroup instead. 3) XP box can see file shares on samba box fine. Just printers, at the

Problem with japanese programs
Hello. I have a tiny problem. I am running Character Maker (a japanese painting program aimed mainly for RPG Maker and the like). Now on Windows, it used the default system font, but when I run it under Wine it uses an ugly handwriting font. Is there a way to fix this problem? It also happens with several programs which were originally in japanese (such as Melody Raiser [from the same author] and

[PATCH 4/5] daemon: lvm: list PVs/VGs/LVs with --foreign
The appliance has no LVM system ID set, which means that lvm commands will ignore VGs with a system ID set to anything. Since we want to work with them, pass --foreign at least when listing them to see them. Internet Explorer installs under wine as default Win2K but then crashes when run...
I want to run Internet Explorer as Win2K at the very least so I might be able to get updates, trying to keep up with security fixes... this might be a pipe dream? I would rather not run anything as Win98 if I can help it... In any case, what I did was, from a clean install of Wine 0.9 on Fedora Core 4, ran [user@localhost ~]$ wine wine: creating configuration directory
