n00b, how to uninstall wine completely and reinstall, Ubuntu.
I installed wine on my desktop running ubuntu 10.04. All was working fine until I installed battlefield 1942. I had an issue so decided to uninstall wine and try again. When I reinstalled wine, I get no Programs item in the menu. I can browse to the folder when browsing the c drive. I started to uninstall BF1942 to try again and had a power cut during the process. Is there any way to completely

unistalling gplpv from win7x64 gives BSOD
I have installed the 210 gplpv (debug), when I try to update them with current gplpv I get a BSOD even so when I try to uninstall them. Now I have made a bootentry that specifies NOGPLPV, what gives me a bootable system after such a crash, I found (uninstalling the leftover driver packages after getting bsod during uninstall of the main package) that uninstalling the net driver leads to bsod. Now

another silly question
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 If ext3 is compiled in, how can you tell which version it is? Yet another silly question...
Ok, I now have Dovecot working but I'm having an issue with my start up from xinetd. I tried to follow the examples in the documentation, but why can't I just have a single entry for IMAP with just dovecot? Wouldn't this also open up the SSL and the POP3 stuff as well? rspec and rspec-rails install hell
I am attending a training course covering rspec. I am using a MS WinXPpro SP3 machine. I have installed the cygwin environment. I am using git 1.5.4. I am using ruby 1.8.6 (2007-09-24 patchlevel 111) [i386-mswin32] and rails 2.0.2 (albeit rails 2.1.0 is installed as well) I had to install rspec-rails and rspec via git and as a gem. Problem 1. If one goes to the rspec.info website and links

n00b here -- pop email deletion
I'm running Dovecot IMAP and POP3 on Debian. But it look's like it's keeping mail in the user's inbox on the server until it's deleted by the user. I thought POP servers deleted email as soon as it was downloaded, but apparently not, according to dovecot.org. Is there something in the Dovecot conf I can do to get rid of all this redundant crud? I see several conversations on

Uninstall Adobe Acrobat 7.0
Installed a 30 day trial of Adobe Acrobat 7.0 and I'm now trying to "properly" uninstall. I run "uninstaller" and the program shows up in the list of installed programs. In Uninstaller: click on the program description to highlight it and then clicking the Uninstall tab causes the hard drive to wobble about a bit, the program becomes un-highlighted and the uninstaller

Uninstall Wine Software doesn't work
When I try to use "Uninstall Wine Software" it does nothing. Some applications seem to uninstall but they remain on the list and on the disk. Others, namely Office 2007, will not even pretend to uninstall. How do I get rid of them?

N00b question...but here it goes
Hey all, How can I call a javascript function from my controller? Is it possible to simply call a javascript function from directly in the controller without needing an AJAX request to come through via link_to_remote or remote form? I''m not talking through an RJS link_to_remote AJAX etc. As an example I''ve tried: class RandomController < ApplicationController

[LLVMdev] n00b question: From module/bitcode to Mach-O dylib file directly?
> > I for one would really like to see object generation become a fully > working feature of the llvm toolchain. Actually, a related thing I've been curious about is the difference between the output of the llvm-gcc-4.2 front end on the Mac and a regular plain vanilla bit code file. The former file can be named a .o and the platform linker now knows how to do LTO while linking

n00b rsyslog.conf question - how to separate local syslog from network appliance syslog?
I have several network appliances, and I want aggregate their syslog output for later analysis. Eventually I might think about a Splunk box, but for the interim I'm hoping to just build a CentOS 6 syslog server and have it aggregate everything on it for quick review. I installed rsyslog and am looking through the /etc/rsyslog.conf file for what I configure to (a) listen for syslog input from

Silly question
Hi there, I know this is be a very minor issue, but considering @users = User.find :all, :order => ''name'' _AND_ @user_pages, @users = paginate :user, :order_by => ''name'' by simplicity, shouldn''t the symbols :order and :order_by be the same or both to both cases ? I stumbled on them a couple of times yet :) Thanks, Andre --

[LLVMdev] n00b question: From module/bitcode to Mach-O dylib file directly?
Thanks John. I had passed over ExecutionEngine as it looked like it offered a JIT. Maybe there's more to it than meets the (hasty) eye though. I'm interested in getting a native image. Ultimately, I'd like to do things like emitting Objective-C IMPs and building Objective-C classes around them. However, I'm going one step at a time (there's probably much to learn

start_form_tag n00b question
Hi, I''m wondering if there is any way to specify the id of a form tag with the start_form_tag helper. I''ve tried playing around with ", id=>"marginForm" " and also inclosing both the action variable and id variable in curley brackets. The Rails API doesn''t off much help for a n00b like me. It''s probably really easy but any help you guys
