icq2000b ... installs but doesn't run ...
Okay, am trying to get ICQ2000b installed under Wine for my GF ... I use LICQ myself, she doesn't like it as much as her Windows version, says it offers more then licq ... I do have a Windows partition, and install goes beautifully ... If I try and run it after the install, the 'Loading...' comes up and then I start getting: fixme:win32:SetCriticalSectionSpinCount

[LLVMdev] Recharging the batteries
Hi, I've noticed that http://llvm.org/status/ hasn't been updated for a while, so I tought that some of you might find the following information interesting and/or encouraging... For benchmarking the stuff I'm working on I needed to compile a number of open-source packages. The settings I used: AS=llvm-as lLD=llvm-ld AR=llvm-ar CXX=llvm-g++ CC=llvm-gcc CFLAGS="-g

winemulating ICQ 2001b
Anybody has runned ICQ 2001b successfully with Wine? When I try to run it, it crashes on the startup. Maybe the fault is in NTDLL.dll.3 which has not implented fully yet? Or I don't have all dll's? I'm not sure for I'm a newbie with Wine... :( Well anyway here's the output of Wine: ----- Invoking /usr/bin/wine.bin icq ... fixme:win32:DeviceIo_MMDEVLDR

Unstripped stuff
Hi! I was running lintian on our package... Among the copious errors and warnings there are: W: xen-utils: manpage-has-errors-from-man usr/share/man/man1/xm.1.gz 668: warning: can't find numbered character 160 Should we try to fix this, perhaps? Nice to learn a new (to me) feature of rsyslog. What does 'logger show channels' show? -- Thanks in advance,

[RFC] Adding a char set converter to Support library
Hi! On z/OS, there is the need to convert strings from EBCDIC to UTF-8 and vice versa. Using the POSIX iconv functions has some challenges, so I created a small wrapper around this functionality to get the same result on all platforms. This functionality is required for reading and writing GOFF object files and can also be used in the frontend. I put up the code on Phabricator

[LLVMdev] Inlining bitcast functions...
Spoke too soon... running the inst combine pass does seem to resolve the linker/inlining issue. But the resulting code fails to run correctly. I was expecting the same result that I get when running with unstripped modules, that is passing test runs. When it still failed, I guessed the failure mode to be the same, but it isn't. Not sure WHAT to make of this...

Memory mapping assumptions in RuntimeDyld
Hi! Implementing the Memory::allocateMappedMemory() function on z/OS, I see a failure in the AArch64 COFF test case. The test case has 3 sections. For each section, Memory::allocateMappedMemory() is called to reserve memory. If the distance between the pointers gets too large, then the test case fails. It can be reliable produced with a distance of 1MB between the pointers. An easy way to

Workgroup shows up, but not the computer
I am running Mandrake 10.0 Official PowerPack, I have Samba 3.0.2a and my Windows XP PCs can see the Workgroup but there is no PC in the Workgroup. However, I can type \\<computername> and see all of the shared folders and printers. After doing this the Network Neighborhood still does not show the computer in the Workgroup. Does anyone know why this is occurring and how to fix it?

RPM SPEC rebuild errors
Hello All, I have been trying all afternoon to rebuild the Samba RPM for my Fedora 3 with the MySQL passdb support and from what I can see it only needs the inclusion of "--with-expsam=mysql" in the SPEC file in addition to the regular ones. The problem is that no matter what version of Samba I try to rebuild, it always gice an error at the same place:

[LLVMdev] Inlining bitcast functions...
Eli, Thanks. I don't think it's a bug in the linker, really… it's required to treat (stripped) opaque types as different, since it really has no way to know if the caller and the callee really are referring to the same thing… though it then seems to turn right around and do exactly that by inserting the bitcast. ;-) (That does come from the linker.) That the linker 'works
