different font and window behaviour w/ diff X servers
Hi:
Like Gerard Patel mentioned on the developer's list I can confirm
that Wine's behaviour _is_ now very dependant on which X server
is used and to top it: also this behaviour is varying quite a bit
depending on the Windows application which is run.
I have font problems with XF86_SVGA on a Trident Video-107PCI
(cheapy-cheapy) and not with XF86_S3 on a Diamond 2000 3D (old).
The problem

AutoWikiBrowser (.NET 2.0 app) with mono 1.9
AutoWikiBrowser (AWB) is a Wikipedia-oriented browser for doing
repetitive editing:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WP:AWB
AWB is a .NET 2.0 application. It doesn't work in Wine under Mono 1.2:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8499
- but I see Mono 1.9 (preview of 2.0) is out, so decided to give it a go:

Thanx n Grtz

sequential processing
Like many others, I am new to R but old to SAS.
Am I correct in understanding that R processes a data frame in a
sequential ly? This would imply that large input files could be
read, without the need to load the entire file into memory.
Related to the manner of reading a frame, I have been looking for the
equivalent of SAS _n_ (I realize that I can use a variant of which to
identify an index

view remote desktop
I know with vnc you can access virtual desktops, but is there a way to
view the current desktop on a kde session? I tried changing the
.vnc/xstartup and added the startkde & at the end to get the gui
working, but can only get virtual desktops to show. or if there is a
different software to use that someone else might know about.

Desktop Switcher
Hey Y'all,
Does CentOS have a desk top switcher similar to what you find on Fedora?
A friend of mine want's to be able to switch between desktops. I've
only got Gnome installed on my machine so I don't switch. A search of
Google turns up reference to CentOS 4 for desktop switcher but I don't
see anything for CentOS 6.3.

Building REDHAT Desktop Virtualization Solution With Centos
Redhat offers a desktop virtualization solution using "kvm, qemu, libvirt and spice" which is directed at centralized server hosting virtual desktops and thin clients connecting to it.
All the relevant software are open source. So it should be possible to achieve the same feat with CentOS. Anyone know any complete tutorial regarding this?
I've found separate tutorials regarding

Linux desktop setup with authentication against Samba AD DC
Hi folks,
I'm figuring to setup a few Linux desktops with LXDM as display manager,
and with authentication against a Samba AD DC. After successful
authentication, I want the authenticated user's profile to be
downloaded, or preferably mapped, from a SMB server (Linux, Windows,
NAS, ...), to the local Linux PC. I intend to use Debian Bookworm, with
Archlinux as a secondary alternative

App doesn't react
Hi all,
I've downloaded the sources of Wine-20010510 and installed them
successfully (I think).
But when running a Windows-app, the window is in screen, but doesn't
react to my input, like mouse-clicking or typing on the keyboard.
Is this a known prob?
Thanks in advance,
Bram Schoenmakers

Do's & Don'ts when creating a Win app to be wine compatible ?
Hi,
i am in the process of prototyping a small (inter-)network
game client that is intented to run on windows.
I don't have the time nor desire to create a
dedicated linux port of it, but as some users may
want to use it on linux, i'd like to know what
points could be important to make a win app run
as smoothly on wine as possible with little extra
effort.
Development system will be
