New TransGaming Patch
This worked with: Wine CVS from Jan 29th + Transgaming patch XFree 4.0.2 NVidia drivers 0.9.6 Had to turn off DGA, and force wine to manage created windows, otherwise I get a glXMakeCurrent error when it tries to set the current GLX rendering context. The frame rate isn't quite windows, but the demo is certainly playable. Good luck, Dan "Chris Howells"

fixme:ddraw:User_DirectDraw_GetCaps unsupported structure versions
Hi: I can't get Red Alert (The old version, not Red Alert II) to work with wine. This is suprising since the Apps database on winehq.com has three entries that say Red Alert works. For me the screen goes black and stays that way. I get out of it by killing X witn Ctrl-Alt-Backspace. This the the error output from wine: Invoking /opt/wine/bin/wine.bin /WIN95/westwood/redalert/ra95.exe ...

Updating WordPerfect Office
The version of Wine that ships with WPOffice 9 is getting pretty creaky. As far as I can tell, Corel doesn't have any updates on their site, but as far as I know there's no reason that someone couldn't update their version. Anyone have any luck with this? I'm still trying to reproduce their build parameters. -- | I'm old enough that I don't have to pretend to be grown

nVidia and Starcraft
Ok... here's my big problem with the nVidia drivers. Ever since I upgraded to 0.9-6 DGA mode with Starcraft has been broken!, and now with the 0.9-767 drivers Starcraft has refused to work AT ALL. If I replace the drivers back to the 0.9-5 (which are dreadfully unstable with SMP) Starcraft works fine. Any resolution, any color depth. With 0.9-6 I have to run Starcraft at 8-bit depth, else

Screen resolution in StarCraft
I have installed StarCraft succesfully, but the screen resolution is only 600x480, how do I change it to 1024x768? I have tried to write: wine --desktop 1024x768 starcraft.exe but that makes the area available 1024x768 inside a 600x480 resolution! Sincerely Jesper

Mass software update distribution + checksum-updating
Hello Rsync devs, We're investigating ways to provide large scale software updates for multi-gigabyte games, and have recently begun to explore whether rsync may fit the bill. In particular, the checksum-updating patch looks like it might be able to solve our biggest concerns about CPU load on the update server, since the actual content being served will change quite rarely. Would an

Starcraft & Keyboard Problems
I'm sorry if this is a re-post - I switched news servers and it's not showing up on the new one. Here goes: I'm trying to run Starcraft fullscreen using xinit: xinit /usr/bin/wine ./starcraft.exe -- /usr/X11R6/bin/X :1 -screen Starcraft This runs SC in full-screen mode, no window manager, a separate X server, DGA-enabled, the whole 9 yards. Starcraft starts and looks great.

running starcraft
I've just installed the Wine package on my Debian machine, and I'm trying to run Starcraft. The relevant error message I get consistently is: fixme:dsound:IDirectSoundImpl_SetCooperativeLevel (0x406806ec,00010021,2):stub err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x40680a74 "?" wait timed out, retrying (60 sec) fs=037f The window (or desktop, I've tried both) for the

Starcraft is fast without using DGA?
Hi all, i have run starcraft from the debugger, and it's fast. (Well, about as fast as win98 on a P-60) I have run it from wine, and it's slow (about a 468-33) The real machine i runt it from is a celeron 416, 160 MB ram, geforce 2 mx400 PCI I *finaly* discovered i could get a trace from it by using winedbg -debugmsg i.e. ONE dash. I run a diff on both files, and i was surprized to

Starcraft and Wine - Graphics Problems
Allright, I'm at my wits end here. About 6 months ago I had starcraft working perfectly under wine. Couldn't tell the difference between it and running natively under windows. Anyway, between now and then I've reinstalled and updated drivers, etc and I can't get wine to work for the life of me (Recent version too) When I had it working I was using a script to start a second X

I can't see anything when entering battle.net in StarCraft
Hi, All! Maybe anybody deals with problem similar to the subject? I've used versions of Wine from 20001202 till 20011004. System: RedHat 7.1 + XFree-4.1.0 Under newer versions of wine I can play StarCraft (BroodWar 1.08b) in windowed mode (without DGA support - with DGA I've got an frozen screen and must to kill X server). Older versions supports full-screen accelerated mode with DGA and

Screen resolution switch with DGA
This has me baffled. I run Diablo 2 under Wine, works absolutely flawlessly in every way. I have DGA enabled, and a 800x600 desktop (also tried the Managed and Unmanaged options). Thing is, my X desktop is 1600x1200x16bpp and of course Diablo 2 is only 800x600. Is there any way to have this resolution automagically change to 800x600 (nothing seems to do that here), and back when I exit it? I

Deus Ex in Wine - working
hey all, i know it's kind of pointless to get Deus Ex running in wine now thnx to loki (j/k), but if you have shelled out $$ for Deus Ex winblows version, now you can run it in wine. I got Deus Ex running yesterday with TransGaming's (www.transgaming.com) version of wine. I ran it in both OpenGL and Glide mode, video runs excellent. Mouse input is great as well, much better than the

Starcraft Patch
I've done some work getting the patches from http://starcraft-wine.sourceforge.net/ working with CVS wine. Using the patch I'm including, starcraft works perfectly on my machine, run as root using DGA on a 640x480 XF86 layout. In particular the changes to event.c enable the mouse and keyboard with DGA. The changes to input.c make the mouse acceleration work the same in all directions.
