codeweavers-wine:itcl problem
codeweavers-wine-20010112-1 hung during install (rpm) at
the creation of KDE/Gnome menus; since I don't use either,
I thought, no prob and ran winesetup from Blackbox.
I skipped re-making the links on starting winesetup and
went right for the configuration. which also failed. This
is the message it generated:
Error: Invoking 'wish Main.itcl' in
/opt/wine/bin/winesetuptk

Damn itcl to hell.
Hi,
Sorry to bug people with this what must be a very trivial question. I've got
a Mandrake 8.0 installation and have been trying in vain to get CodeWeavers
Wine (preview #3) installed. I've downloaded and installed the 'blessed'
version of itcl from the CodeWeaver's website (itcl-8.3.2-7mdk.i586.rpm) and
am still getting the itcl not found error when I try to run winesetup.

cannot install codeweavers wine
I am trying to install the Codeweavers version of wine (pre-release 2)
and I am having problems. When I try to install (using rpm), I get the
message "installing package codeweavers-wine-20010112-1 needs 7Mb on the
/ filesystem". My / filesystem is not overly large, but I still have
approx 60Mb available on /. Is the error stating that the install
requires 7Mb on /, or it needs 7Mb more

wine on suse7.3
I noticed a distribution for 7.2 & 8.0 but not 7.3.
Download and installation of the 7.2 version appears to go fine - until i
give the command wine -v
I do understand there is not a config file with the distribution.
However when i start wine -v
and take the option to setup config it fails twith a message
can't find package Itcl and also says the config file does not exist.

could not exec wineserver
When I try to execute:
wine "sol.exe"
it gives this error:
-----
wine: could not exec wineserver
-----
My system is:
SuSE 7.0 (if I'tm not mistaken: glibc 2.1?)
codeweavers-wine-20010305-1.i386.rpm
itcl-3.1.0-79.i386.rpm
win98 on other partition
I already added /opt/wine/lib to /etc/ld.so.conf; this solved a previous
problem.
Can anyone help? Thanks!

You don't need winesetuptk or wineinstall anymore, because wine
automatically sets up a .wine directory with the appropriate contents.
Also, the wine config file isn't needed to successfully run wine
anymore. If you don't have a .wine

Wine Setup
I am a complete newbie to Wine. I am aware of the wonderful things OTHER
people can get it to do as far as running MS apps, but I have never had
such sucess.
The last attempt to run "winesetup" as root was met with the following:
debian:/home/tilleyrw# whoami
root
debian:/home/tilleyrw# winesetup
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: Client is not authorized

Codeweavers vs. RedHat distribution?
I am using the version of wine that came with RedHat 7.2. I just noticed
that Codeweavers has their own distribution of wine that includes what looks
like a convenient setup configuration utility. What are the pros and cons of
uninstalling what I got from RedHat and downloading and installing the rpm
from Codeweavers?
Thanks

regapi and CodeWeavers 1.0p3
Hi all.
I'm trying to get printing going with CodeWeavers Wine
and have come to the part where running "regapi" is
required. Unfortunately this is not included with
the CodeWeavers release. Can anyone suggest a way
forward?
Many thanks,
Pete.
