Crash and automatical reboot when using the NVIDIA card
Hello there,
I'm running a Supermicro server with the latest CentOS 6.4 versions (kernel
: 2.6.32-358.23.2.el6.x86_64) and the latest nvidia driver (331.20).
A few minutes after using the GPU for doing some HPC calculations, the
server crashes and reboots itself. This is happening every time. I know it
will be rebooted but I don't know when. Sometimes it's 20 minutes after
starting

Centos 6.2 x64 after GRUB menu, black screen with blinking cursor
Dear CentOS users,
I installed CentOS 6.2 x64 in a Sun Fire X4450 machine, it has 4 disks and
I configured them to be a single volume (no RAID). The installer sees the
volume perfectly, its 570Gb. I created two ext3 partitions, /dev/sda1 and
/dev/sda2. In the logs I see they are formated correctly. All the files are
installed.
Then when I reboot, I get to the GRUB menu. Choose the first and only

Upstream 6.2
As much as I hate to be the bearer of news, I saw over 400 updates this morning on my upstream 6.1 box.... checking the upstream website, yeah, EL6.2 is out, at least for updates. I didn't see ISO's in my subscribed channel yet, though.
I figured someone would notice soon enough.
So before anyone goes into flame mode, think about the difficulties that have faced the CentOS developers in

Centos 6.3 - which repos to use?
I've just installed v6.3 as a desktop (from
Centos-6.3-i386-LiveCD.iso) and to get the hang of the Centos approach
and then hope to move on to a server. I've been using linux *buntu for
5 years.
Hope i don't sound like a nit but i've got a little confused with the
repos. Hoping someone would be kind enough just to clarify. This
installation is for stability whilst installing the

Z-Stream?
Hi,
I just learned that there exists a "z-stream" channel upstream that
apparently carries some important bugfixes. Does anyone know what the
policies are for this channel and how this relates to centos releases?

When will 6.2 be released.
Let's go ahead and get this flame thread started now to save time.
The CentOS team sucks ... it took XXXX days to do 6.1 ... it is going to
take twice as long to get 6.2
My mom said CentOS blows.
kbsingh is ugly.
hughesjr is old and fat.
OK ... that should do.

What happened to 6.1
Hi gang - Love CentOS - you guys to a fabulous job.
It has been a while since I saw any update...
I went to twitter.com/centos nothing there,
twitter.com/centos6 nothing there,
went to the qa calendar stuff nothing there.
Last I saw was something in September saying all
RPM's are built and doing ISO's. Then nothing.
I know the whole story about its ready when its ready and

Got a question, will CentOS6.1 continue to be supported with updates,
or is it mandatory to upgrade to 6.2?

CentOS 6 Bug Fix Announcements
Are there going to be any CentOS 6 announcements made about bug fixes
etc made to CentOS Announce mailing list ?
CentOS 6 has been around for a while now, has many fixes available, yet
I haven't seen a single announcement. Perhaps I am just not subscribed
to the correct list .

CentOS-6.0 Continuous Release ( CR ) repository
I don't really understand the function of this repository,
or rather why the RPMs in it are not in the standard repository?
I read the outline at
<http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/Repositories/CR>,
and added the repository on two CentOS machines.
On yum-updating some 450MB of updates were installed.
Both machines appear to be running perfectly well.

CR repo - version issue
Hi
We use mrepo to keep a local repository. I downloaded the CentOS6.1 iso
and used that as the base. We also have the CR repo added.
I was expecting this change to cause no issues but the following
packages have version issues between the base 6.1 and the CR repo:-
base version CR version

Is this right? -- Centos 6 and RHEL 6 infrastrure for continuous update/upgrade
Hi all,
Both RHEL 6 and CentOS 6 can be installed from any minor releases DVDs: 6.0, 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, etc. And then got continuous upgrade/update with command 'yum -y upgrade' if repos are setup correct.
But the repos infrastructure is different between the two. CentOS uses two repos:
??? ..../centos/6/os/... repo and .../centos/6/updates/...
The updates/ repo contains ONLY updated RPMs

Allow updates but not upgrades
Hi.
At the moment it seems my machines just update to the latest current
release . I install a 6.0 machine and run yum update , and next thing
its 6.2 .
I have a requirement where I need machines to only upgrade to even
numbered sub releases eg: 6.0 , 6.2, 6.4 and only on my approval. But
will allow updates within a given release.
How can I achieve this ?
If I sync the repositories for eg: 6.0

CentOS 6-6.3 -> no updates and security fixes?
Hi All.
I've found:
This directory (and version of CentOS) is depreciated. For normal users,
you should use /6/ and not /6.3/ in your path. Please see this FAQ
concerning the CentOS release scheme:
http://www.centos.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=34
If you know what you are doing, and absolutely want to remain at the 6.3
level, go to http://vault.centos.org/ for packages.

Perl package problems too (different)
Hello there,
since yersterday, there's a massive update ready for my CentOS 6 (kept
up-to-date, including w/ cr updates).
The yum update lists many packages from 'base' and 'update' and 2 deps
from 'cr' then fails, see:

NUT 2.0.5 and 2.2.2 hacking -- there is something to improve!
Hello,
I wanted to set my own time intervals for shutdown.
{poweroff, return, paused.return}, so I had to change sources, where it has
been set in a hard way.
poweroff: Sxx\r
return: Zxx\r
paused.return: SxxRyyyy\r
Solution A: Why not adding an info about these commands in a generic way and
issuing shutdown.{poweroff.xx,return.xx,paused.return.xxyyyy}
Solution B: Why not creating a special

Choosing a CentOS version
This may be a noob question but there is something I have been trying to
understand, there are currently three main versions of CentOS 4, 5, and 6.
My main question is simply how do I know what version I should deploy? I
have searched online and either I did not do a good job of searching or the
information I get is inadequate.
To better understand why I ask this question, here are some of the
