VLC Equivalent for CentOS 6.3
Hey All, Is there anything available in the CentOS 6.3 software catalog that can play a DVD? I am loath to install software from external repositories. That only leads to headaches. -- _ ?v? /(_)\ ^ ^ Mark LaPierre Registerd Linux user No #267004 www.counter.li.org ****

VLC package(s) for C6 ?
Hi listees! Just installed C6 (more or less) permanently on my eeepc. I've enabled rpmfusion non-free, rpmfusion free, elrepo, and epel, prior to this point I've been running fedora on it (f10 thru f14) and have always found VLC at rpmfusion. (but finally RHEL/Centos have become modern enough to support the eeepc's funky hardware, so I'm switching back--tired of the version

vlc?
Hey, folks, a co-worker raves that vlc is the bestestplaysthemostformats media player there is, including being able to resize videos. I see it's only over on repoforge for CentOS, but trying to install it at home (I'm running 5.8, 32-bit), it wants about 30 or more dependencies, and one or two of them, of course, have conflicts. Has anyone installed it in a 5.x environment? If so,

Trying to check my configuration I discovered that the snd-hda-codec.ko

Nux VLC gives CLI only on CentOS-6.x
I thought this was just because of various unwise repo mixing that I'd done on my main home server-cum-workstation, but I've been able to duplicate it on a fresh VirtualBox installation. I install the nux repo vlc-core and vlc-extras. I then try to start it from a command line. I get +++++++ main interface error: no suitable interface module [0x1ae5108] main libvlc error: interface

What are the chances that a package such as vlc from http://videolan.org/vlc would become included in extras? so a yum install vlc would work. Thanks, Jerry

Installing Libspeex in VLC
Good day everyone, I'm trying to run .speex audio files in VLC. So I found a link to libspeex in VLC website, and I downloaded the package. Anyway, I don't know how to install it from now, once it's in a tar.gz format. Do I have to extract the files and paste it in VLC folder? P.S.: I'm using Win7. Thx a lot. VLC only sees a fraction of Speex wrapped in OGG
Friends, My name is Igor, I am new to this forum. I have a peculiar problem with my OGG/Speex implementation: I encode a short PCM stream in OGG/Speex, but the result can not be read by VLC and MediaInfo <http://mediaarea.net/nn/MediaInfo> reports that the file is too short (240ms). In reality the file contains about 2.7 sec worth of audio. Another interesting thing I noticed is that the

installing 32 bit vlc on Centos 5.5??
I'm in yum dependency hell using epel, rpmforge and rpmfusion repos to install vlc on 32 bit Centos 5.5. Anyone have a better idea? Doesn't really have to be vlc I just want to be able to play a dvd and Movie Player complains about missing plugins without saying what they are. VLC
Hi All, When our users receive a voicemail we send it attached to an email. It used to work fine, encoded in wav49 and read by Windows media player. Recently the default player in the company has become VLC which is unable to read wav49. I am trying to use OGG/VORBIS instead of wav49. I can't get it working: In voicemail.conf: format = ogg The result is as follow: [Mar 11 09:42:17]
