Raw print queues in CentOS 4.4
Hi All, I have a raw print queue configured in CentOS 4.4 for a printer connected to a Windows PC. The printer doesn't have a Linux driver of any sort, so this was the only way to print to it. The printer is an Okidata dot matrix printer. Users can print to it from a console application, but if they try printing to it from OOo Writer, the printer spits out reams of pages with what looks

Once it is submitted it prints

Printing to Samba printer causes application to abort
I am using Slackware 10.2 (kernel 2.4.29) and Samba 3.0.21c for my print server. The client workstations are WinNT4. I have two printers on the linux server..an HP DeskJet 600 and an Okidata B4250. I can install and print to the HP from any of the workstations. I can install the Okidata just fine, but when I try to print from Word, Excell, or any application Dr. Watson comes to visit. I get

LAN sip-to-sip
I'm reading the O'Reilly "Asterisk the definitive guide", 4th ed, with a starfish on it. In some ways, astonishing that it's not really that definitive, it's more general -- and it only clocks in at one ream of paper! In any event, I'm having some port problems on my home network: http://security.stackexchange.com/questions/81752/ I need to open ports for

Issues with NVidia video driver and CentOS
We do have the elrepo drivers installed. Maybe part of the problem is also that we're using an IOgear KVM switch? Issues with NVidia video driver and CentOS
I'm having issues with a quad video card on CentOS. We have several systems on CentOS 6.8 and CentOS 6.9. The installed hardware is: Video card - Nvidia NVS quadro 440 PC - Dell OptiPlex 9020 Whenever you update the kernel, it kills the graphical interface. The system appears to lock up and freeze during a reboot, but you can still get into it with SSH, or, if you're at the console,

CUPS and Okidata ML 395
Hi All, Has anyone currently, or in the past, setup an Okidata ML 395 (or any of Okidata's impact printers, for that matter) on a CentOS box? I'm having a miserable time with the ML 395: I'm looking for some tips. I have an AMD Opteron server running CentOS 4 (x86_64). CUPS is running happily for two Canon imageRunner's (via BrightQ Pro from Codehost). The Okidata ML 395 is

Any known problems using xrandr with Nouveau
Running Debian Wheezy Hardware: Older P4 3.06 GHz video: Nvidia FX 5700LE Monitor is 25.5 asus LCD with 1900x1280 native resolution. (xrander sees it as 1400x900) (I've included the output of xrandr -q at the end, also following that output is Xorg.0.log) I recently made some effort to obtain a large pannable desktop like I have used for many years. And since on newer debian they expect to

hints on KVM switches w/ X
Has anyone got hints on using KVM switches with XFree86? I'm using a wheel mouse and moused, but something gets out of whack when I switch away then back to X. Next time I touch the mouse, all sorts of weird things happen for a fraction of a second, then the mouse starts working OK. This is annoying and dangerous because it often winds up pasting random stuff into xterms..... Are there

using a Laptop as a KVM console?
Hi all, Has anyone seen something like this before: I want to use a laptop as a KVM console. Basically when a technician goes to one of our datacentres, or clients he has to look for a free LCD, keyboard & mouse to connect to a server (no network access, reinstall, troubleshoot failed kernel / HDD, etc). And then hopefully there's an open power socker in that cabinet. So I'm

Is it possible to do straight text printing from wine? I am trying to get a crufty old application working under wine to replace a windows box. It wants to print to an Okidata using plain ascii. The wine postscript driver works but the printing is quite slow and ragged. Thanks for any assistance. Steve Bergman

Printing from DOS application - delay
Hi, I have samba 2.0.7 (on Redhat 6.2) running as a print server for a Foxpro for DOS application. When printing from Foxpro (win98 client with DOS printing turned on), the print job does not reach the samba server print queue until the user shuts down the application. If I share the printer on a windows box, printing occurs immediately within the Foxpro application. Here are some of my settings
