vixie-cron package from RHEL 5 FasTrack?
What is the best way to get the RPM described in the following URL installed on CentOS 5.2: http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2008-0586.html I have users who can't run cron jobs because their home directories are NFS mounted, and I believe installing this RPM would fix the problem. I remember reading that the CentOS developers are working on supporting the RHEL FasTrack

Fasttrack Repo on CentOS 4
A quick question on the fasttrack repo which is now up to date with upstream. Why is the fasttrack repo not in the main CentOS-Base.repo file but contrib which has never had anything is included in the main CentOS-Base.repo file? The goal of CentOS is to be binary-compatible with upstream so fasttrack is "more important" in this regard than contrib. Upsteam ships with the main channels

CentOS FastTrack repository
The upstream provider has started a new channel called fastrack. It is detailed here (see the whole thread): https://www.redhat.com/archives/nahant-list/2006-April/msg00001.html CentOS will also build the fastrack SRPMS. We have created separate repositories in CentOS-3 and CentOS-4 called fasttrack. (I know the spelling is different, that is by design. We don't want to use the name of

Missing update / update announcement
Hi, the C5 updates to openoffice.org-2.0.4-5.4.26 are available on the mirrors, but no announcement has come through the centos-announce mailing list yet. Also, upstream has released gnome-screensaver-2.16.1-5.el5_1.1 and gnome-screensaver-2.16.1-8.el5 (FasTrack channel) beginning of April. Neither is available yet for C5. Best regards, Bernd.

Wiki links broken

My problem is that I now need to track an additional channel for updates, with associated local mirror and scripting. I was only vaguely aware of it until I was looking for an update I know I saw in the announce digest

Changes at Red Hat confouding CentOS (was: What happened to 6.1)
These seems to me to be the first message in the series and provides a really good summary of the changes at Red Hat which seem to be making life a lot more difficult for CentOS. Just figured I'd pull it out of that thread and change the subject line. Below Johnny's email I've copied another from the original thread, written by Lamar Owen, which gives some good explanation on how Red

Recommended REPO Setup for Desktop on Cos5
CentOS is simply great. I use it as my main desktop. I use VMWare clients for any "special needs" software. I am struggling a bit with the plethora of repos and looking for some advice. Would you opine with detail on the best repo setup for a desktop CentOS 5? Comments: rpmforge provides fine rpms. kbsingh, google, adobe, kde-redhat, CentOS-Testing , CentOS-fastrack, epel,

Time Change: Centos-immune?
hey all, I perused my inbox looking for this subject, but not finding it, -anything I need to keep my server farm of 60 centos servers (that all run ntp) going smoothly during this next time change on March 11? I noticed on the w2k side my IT staff have to do some scrambling, heh, but that's expected. Any action required? -karlski

The delays on CentOS 5.6 are causing EPEL incompatibilities
There are significant components of the upstream 5.6 release which are stuck behind the CentOS 5.6 release process, but are now incorporated in EPEL 5 components. In particular, the "php53" package is now necessary for the "drupal6" EPEL components, due to the long out of date PHP 5.1 in the default upstream vendor's codebase. I see that some of these components are

dovecot-lmtp
Hi, I'm trying to use dovecot-lmtp so that I can filter messages with sieve, however it doesn't appear to be working. I followed the instructions on wiki2.dovecot.org. I'm running Debian Wheezy. I've got runit configured to execute postfix and dovecot, which may be the source of the problem (runit executes /usr/sbin/dovecot -F). I've got mail_debug turned on and there is
