That seems like an awfully convenient rug to sweep problems under.
Can?t fix a security problem? Corporate restrictions!
Can?t require sensible security defaults restrictions by default? Corporate restrictions!

Centos 6 Update?
All,
As much as I hate to ask, how is this project coming along? We are approaching the 4 month post-release point...

selinux allow FTP
Guys,
I hear all your arguments against using FTP. I completely get all that.
But I am making things a little bit safer by using virtual users that have
no access to the file system. The ftp user account has a shell of
/bin/false. And I was able to get proftpd working with SELinux
using setsebool -P ftp_home_dir on.
The client is recalcitrant to using any technology he doesn't know. I have

Cent OS 6 freezing up
I've been out of pocket for a while, so don't shoot me, if this has
already been brought up. I'm having a problem with my desktop freezing
up, and I'm running Cent OS 6. It seems to happen while I'm running
firefox. I'm not sure if it's firefox, or the OS that's locking up.
When it freezes up, nothing will respond, so I'm inclined to think it's

Hi,
The thread titled "Another Fedora Decision" is rapidly turning into a
political and opinion driven flame fest that is unsuited for the CentOS
mailing list. This list should try and remain focused on CentOS, what we
have and keep the area sane for new users as well as old hands to
participate in a fair and thoughtful conversation around the CentOS
Linux platform and the CentOS

Hi Jim,
Thanks for putting in the effort here. It's never a good situation to have
to moderate, but sometimes it is necessary.

secure boot.
I've been reading up some about the new "secure boot" that's
coming out on new machines when MS releases Win 8. Has a workaround been
developed yet for those of us who don't want to run windows? Typically,
I mostly build my own desktops, and I install cent os right from the
start, but sometimes I do buy a desktop, and naturally it comes with
windows on it, so I have to do a

Wierd winbind results
Hi all,
I have a Samba 3 machine joined to a AD Child Domain, which is a member of a large forrest. The machine joined the AD domain fine and it can query/log in to it. However for some reason Winbind is showing incomplete information. wbinfo -g shows groups from every domain in the forrest as it should, though wbinfo -u does not, it shows some of the child domains but does not show accounts

Sun Fire X4200 M2 / CentOS 5 APIC issues
I had been running CentOS 5 happily on my Sun Fire X4200 M2 systems,
then I upgraded the BIOS and iLOM firmware. Now I'm running into what
seems to be a fairly common problem with newer motherboards. I cannot
boot unless I use the 'noapic' kernel option. If I try to boot the
kernel normally, I get the error:
"MP-BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC"
