Your opinion about RHCSA certification
Hello to all,
I'm currently studying (and collecting notes here
https://github.com/fdicarlo/RHCSA_cs) for RHCSA. My plan is to RHCSA
-> RHCE and then RHCSS.
What I want to ask you is:
- What do you think about it?
- Did you find it useful?
- Do you have any advices?
Best regards,
Fabrizio

NFS versus Fuse file locking problem (NFS works, fuse doesn't...)
Hi all,
I usualy advise clients to use the native client if at all possible, as it
is very robust. But I am running in to problems here.
In this case the gluster system is used to store video streams. Basicaly
the setup is the following:
- A gluster cluster of 3 nodes, with ample storage. They export several
volumes.
- The network is 10GB, switched.
- A "recording server" which

NFS versus Fuse file locking problem (NFS works, fuse doesn't...)
Hi
This is gluster 3.8.4. Volume options are out of the box. Sharding is off
(and I don't think enabling it would matter)
I haven't done much performance tuning. For one thing, using a simple
script that just creates files I can easily flood the network, so I don't
expect a performance issue.
The problem we see is that after a certain time the fuse clients completely

random roundoff?
On my CentOS 5 box, in a C++ program that does much arithmetic,
including numerous matrix multiplications, I have a situation in
in which the result depends on the nature of nearby I/O. Thus,
with all arithmetic done with type double, and where values
are mostly in the range [-1.0e0,+1.0e0] or nearby, I do:
cerr << "some stuff" << endl;
mat3 = matmult(mat1,mat2);

Hi Krist,
What are your volume options on that setup? Have you tried tuning it for
the kind of workload and files size you have?
I would definitely do some tests with feature.shard=on/off first. If shard
is on, try playing with features.shard-block-size.
Do you have jumbo frames (MTU=9000) enabled across the switch and nodes? if
you have concurrent clients writing/reading, it could be beneficial

OT: DCAP Certification
Hi,
emails to astricon.net seems to bounce (at least for me)
I need information about proper & authorized Asterisk training in the
Miami, FL area and the possibility of later DCAP testing.
Thanks,

File locking...
Hi all,
A few questions.
- Is POSIX locking enabled when using the native client? I would assume yes.
- What other settings/tuneables exist when it comes to file locking?

Way for a VM to reboot from a snapshot?
Using the koan command, a VM can essentially request
that it be reprovisioned.
Is there any way for a VM to request that it reboot from
a snapshot taken with virsh?
Thanks..

Dual Boot Windows 8 & CentOS 6.4
Hi,
I am studying for the RHCSA Exam and wanted to install CentOS 6.4 alongside Windows 8. I got a new laptop with a processor that supports virtualization.
I am planning to remove all the recovery partitions after backing up all drivers etc. on them. Lets see how it works out.
Any caveats I should know about?

Another Asterisk Certification
What started out as a good thing for the community has veared it ugly
head and will come back to bite us in the ass. I give my respect to the
two companies that decided to put themselves 'out there' and attempted
to bring 'real world' certifications of knowledge in an area that is
unregulated, open, and currently has no measurement of how much one
person has over another.

RHCE
I realize this is a CentOS mailing list but because it is based directly on RHEL, I would assume there are a few individuals who frequent the list that have passed the RHCE exam. I plan on taking the exam this March and was wondering if there are any tips you RHCEs out there could provide that may help me.
Thanks!
Dan
