www.mydomain.org and mydomain.org should resolve to the same IP
Hi list, I am having a debate with one of my clients where I administer their domain and storage server but the website is hosted by godaddy. thus www.mydomain.org goes to one of godaddy's servers but the mydomain.org and mail.mydomain.org and ns1.mydomain.org all go elsewhere. My website designer has been convinced by the godaddy web design team that we should <quote> Again, the

Print Jobs stuck in queue
Hi, I have a RedHat7.3 distro running Samba-2.2.3a. I've never had this problem before 2.2.x versions of samba. I'm using domain security and sharing 2 printers, an HP4050 and Ricoh. Everyone can print fine except that, seemingly randomly, printjobs end up in the queue as paused (according to winXPpro and Win98). Nobody can unpause or delete them. The only way to remove them is to

rsync as a change-detecting security tool
I suspect rsync actually *cannot* be used as a change detection tool for security purposes, but I want some help with my reasoning. Imagine a backup system that uses rsync to move files from client to a trusted server. The backup system operates in "pull" mode, and the backup server uses rsync to pull files from the client. Rsync does its magic --link-dest thing, and we detect the

Strangeness with rsync
Hi all! I've got a machine setup to be an "RSYNC Server", i.e. running rsync in daemon mode waiting for connections from various other machines on my network. This machine is running Debian Sarge and rsync 2.6.3. For the past several days, I've been getting notices like this in my backup logs: ============================================================================ =====

windows file compatibility aka A Cry For Help
Everything is going amazing in the windows->samba conversion until I ran into a roadblock..I really dont know what may be going on so I will outline it as best as I can. We have a program called realty toolkit which saves its configuration and security settings onto the network. Well, after putting the files onto the linux box, it no loger wants to work, the security check fails. calling the

SVM. How to use categorical attributes?
Hi All, Here is the case. I want to build classification model (SVM). Some of variables for this model are categorical attributes which represent words (usually 3-10 words - query for search in google). For example: search_id | query_words |..| result -----------+----------------------------------+--+-------- 1 | how,to,grow, tree |..| 4 2

text_field_auto_complete not working in IE?
Hi all, I''m looking for some insight on why my text_field_with_auto_complete might not work in Internet Explorer. I''m using it in a fairly simple way, without much customization. I''ve broken it down and made a test page at http://realty.colemanation.org/houses/test which shows the behavior I''m having problems with. For me on Windows XP this page works

Presence
I have to agree. A large number of people are looking for this feature. I have written a web script that can show Agent logged into the system. I think integration/gateway between Asterisk and Jabber would be a amazingly wonderful product. There is always MSN. Logistic regression : dicrepancies between glm and nls ?
Dear list, I'm trying to learn how to use nlme to be able to fit ad analyse mixed-model logistic regressions. In order to keep things simple, I started by the simplest possible model : a one (fixed-effect ...) continuous variable. This problem is, of course, solved by glm, but I wanted to look at a "hand-made" nls fit, in order to be able to "generalize" to nlme

Incorrect behavior in the LLVM dependence analyzer
Hi all, I am trying to use the dependence analyzer in a pass that I am writing and I was surprised to see an incorrect behavior when I try to query DependenceInfo for dependences between instructions. Specifically, if the two instructions are loads/stores accessing an array in a loop, the depend() method would return a dependence regardless of the order of instructions specified. (i.e. if the two

compile problems on netbsd with samba-latest & openldap-2.0.23
dear list, i have problems when compiling openldap-2.0.23 and the latest samba version (2.2.3a) on netbsd (8500/180 powerpc). Openldap compile procedure is running fine but when trying to compile samba --with-ldapsam I get just this message : config.log : configure:13019: gcc -o conftest -O -I/usr/local/openldap-2.0.23/include -L/usr/local/openldap-2.0.23/lib conftest.c -lldap -llber

How to change the value of a class slot
I defined an S4 class with a slot i. Then I wrote a regular function that attempted to increment i. This didn't work, apparently because of the general rule that a function can't change the values of its arguments outside the function. I gather there are ways around it, but the Green book admonishes "cheating on the S evaluation model is to be avoided" (p. 190). Thinking that

Simulation with cpm package
Hi, I am running the following code based on the cpm vignette's code. I believe the code is syntactically correct but it just seems to hang R. I can get this to run if I set the sims to 100 but with 2000 it just hangs. Any ideas why? Thanks, Chris library(cpm) cpmTypes <- c("Kolmogorov-Smirnov","Mann-Whitney","Cramer-von-Mises") changeMagnitudes <- c(1, 2,

[PATCH 00/11] Add virtual EPT support Xen.
From: Zhang Xiantao <xiantao.zhang@intel.com> With virtual EPT support, L1 hyerpvisor can use EPT hardware for L2 guest''s memory virtualization. In this way, L2 guest''s performance can be improved sharply. According to our testing, some benchmarks can show > 5x performance gain. Lost outgoing SIP packets
Hi list! I have a problem where SIP packets sent by Asterisk do not hit the wire, and I don't know what could cause this. I'm running Asterisk 1.8.28_cert5 with full SIP debug. At the same time, I'm doing a tcpdump of the traffic on the network interface. I can see in the SIP debug log that asterisk is sending packets. Most of the time, I can see those packets in the tcpdump,

Generic asset definitions and management
(The following is not a Rails-specific question, but relates to a problem that affects Rails, so I wonder whether anyone on the team has an opinion about it or knows whether a solution is already in development.) While gem dependencies can be easily managed in a Gemfile by Bundler, when it comes to other assets, you either have to manually copy javascript files into the app/assets or vendor

unable to browse/ map drive
I plead complete ignorance. I have 2 Win98 boxes and a Win2K box trying to access a Samba 2.08 server running on OpenBSD 2.8. All IP addresses are hard coded with the IP of the Samba box as the Wins server (see the smb.conf) The Win2K box can resolve the name of the Samba machine but cannot map to it. The other boxes can't resolve the name. All are set to the same workgroup. [global]
