RHCE Training
I am possibly going to be sent for my RHCE training.
Looking at https://www.redhat.com/courses/rh300_rhce_rapid_track_course_and_rhce_exam/details/
I am thinking the concepts do not look difficult at all, having a manual and instructor makes this look fairly easy actually.
The only thing that looks important to take outside of this would be rh253 if I wasn't interested in taking the

Since the RHCE exam is based on RHEL, that would be the best OS to work
with. If you

[OT] Linux/CentOS Volunteer or PT Work
Hi All,
I'm pretty new to this list and to CentOS, so forgive me if this kind of
thing is shunned. I have really enjoyed following some threads on this list
and learning what everyone out there is doing with the OS. I actually got
started on CentOS when researching how to study for the RHCE without forking
out big cash for Red Hat licenses, a donation is coming soon.
Anyway, I'm

RHEL havoc tool
Hi,
I'm looking for a tool that breaks a working system (in one or more ways)
with the sole purpose to fix it again.
The aim would be to use this tool for several debugging techniques
sessions in our local LUG. When I was invited to speak at a local LUG I
was wondering what was the best way to demonstrate some of the tools (and
more importantly) the way to tackle a problem.
And nothing

OT: redhat training and RHES6
Greetings.
I am planning on getting my RHCE in the near future. I thinking I
should wait until 6 comes out before proceeding. That being said, I
don't want to wait past the end of this year.
That being said, do you all have any information about how long it takes
for their training platform to catch up to their release? Which is to
say, if RHES 6 is released on day 1, at what point

CentOS 7
Greetings all, just wondering if anyone knows if / when there will be
training materials for RHEL 7 (CEntOS7) available? The last book I was
able to purchase was the study guide for the RHSCA / RHCE exam, (by
Michal Jang!) Does anyone know if / when the next versions will be out?
I'd like to go through it all with the latest and not "last years model"
under my belt!
Thanks!

exam
Dear CentOS users,
is it possible to prepare for a certified (big North American Linux
vendor) engineer exam with a CentOS install ?
I have heard that the test contains questions on specific GUIs, are
they included in the CentOS distribution?

I need information about proper & authorized Asterisk training in the
Miami, FL area and the possibility of later DCAP testing.
Thanks,

Intrusion Detection
Hello all,
I have been exploring the various intrusion detection systems available for the Linux platform and was wondering what ones you all would recommend? I have used AIDE before and while it is extremely easy to setup, it does not support the ability to send alerts as files are changed (allows one to be aware of an intrusion almost immediately).
Thank you,
Dan Burkland

Downgrade libgcc & gcc packages (is there a clean way)
Hello all,
I have been tasked with "fixing" one of our CentOS boxes by somehow downgrading the libgcc and gcc packages to a specific version (Required by the Oracle Grid Control client). Normally I'd just remove and reinstall the packages however removing libgcc is no fun as I found out the hard way it breaks pretty much every package including rpm & yum. Is there an elegant way

CentOS 5.4 x86_64 authenticating against AD (Server 2008r2)
Hey All,
Just wondering if any of you have been able to setup CentOS 5.4 to authenticate against AD on a Server 2008r2 Domain Controller. I am trying to complete this particular setup however I have run into some difficulties such as not being able to lookup domain users via getent passwd.
Thanks for your input,

Kickstart help
Hey all,
I have sort of an odd request for you today in regards to Kickstart
configuration. I have recently created a kickstart configuration file to
better standardize the configuration aspect of my server installations.
I am having one issue and that is distributing a script (yum-check) via
the kickstart file (in %post section). Parts of the script get written
to the correct file

Storing Kerberos database in OpenLDAP
Hi all,
I have created a project for myself in that I would like to store an MIT Kerberos database inside LDAP (Using OpenLDAP). I have found some relevant results but most of them are extremely outdated and unreliable. I did however recently find an article for Ubuntu that was up to date however it wasn't focused on CentOS/Red hat-based distros. Has anybody found something like this

guest A from virbr0 can talk to guest B in virbr1 but not vice versa
Hello,
I came across an interesting problem in my home lab a few weeks ago as I'm
prepping for my RHCE exam using Michael Jang study guide. I've been at this
for days now, and I still can't wrap my head around how two or more virtual
networks in default NAT configuration are even allowed to communicate with
each other despite what the libvirt documentation said.
Here's the
