syncml with server push email
Any recommendations for server push email using syncml and dovecot? I am familiar with Funambol for syncing pim info, but not used it for email. Are there any recommended opensource or commercial syncml servers that are known to integrate nicely with Dovecot 1.x? Googling hasn't really turned up much in the way of useful info. To mix it up a little, I was using Funambol for the Pim

Calendar and address book with Dovecot
Hi all I recently install Postfix and Dovecot, and so far so good. My assumption was that calendar and address book (similar to Gmail calendar or address book) are part of Dovecot. However I do not see anything concerning them in any of the docs I have read so far. What other software (ideally open source, free) do I need in other to have Calendar and address book so my users can manage their

Proxy Access (Manager/Secretary) Best Practices?
I've mostly got our dovecot+postfix+SOGo+openldap open source groupware replacement working the way I want it to; we're replacing GroupWise in our organization and I'm thrilled to be doing it. I'm supporting about 1,000 active staff users (and another 6,000 student accounts). I've got e-mail and calendar sharing working, and it does what it says it will do, but it is (go

Help! OT: Blackberry IMAP client suggestions/experience needed
The CFO of our college, a most formidable man, had decided to go Blackberry and Something Functional Must Be Done. We've had some users who we've not supported (and things got better for them when we switched from UWIMAP to Dovecot). BB, of course, has their half-baked sorta-IMAP-compliant client (and we do NOT want the BB Enterprise Server) that persistently keeps grabbing the

Get an eSATA enclosure that has room for 8 or 10 drives and just connect it to box? I know that RAID is not a full proof backup, but I am looking for a solution to store all of my data, projects, music,

Does anyone know if the newest horde version can "talk" to? smart phones in regards to e-mails ? In other words, can a user owning a smartphone get his/her e-mails on it apart from the webpage ? Thank you, spyros ? ---- "I merely

dovecot as exchange server?
Hi, This might be a stupid question, since my knowledge about Exchange is really poor... Since I've got iPhone, I have noticed that IMAP mailbox support is quite crippled in this device - in comparison to Exchange mailboxes... As I assume that it would be easier to convince Bill Gates to install linux than to convince Steve Jobs to change anything in his "perfect phone", I

a hardware question
We need to replace several servers, quickly - four of our Dell PE 1950's died in one week. (!!!) So, we're looking around, and I was checking out IBM. I customized to what we want, and hit 'continue', and suddenly there's another $800 for a "system common planar" that's "required". Googling only finds specs with it - does anyone know what it is? I mean,

BlackBerry will not setup my POP3 email, all other mail clients fine
Hello, hoping someone here might be able to help me or at least point me in the right direction. My company recently (last week) moved to a new dedicated server for website and email hosting. It is a fairly run-of-the-mill Linux machine running cPanel and Dovecot (with the BlackBerry Fastmail service enabled) as a mail server. When we first set up the server, I was able to create a mailbox,

Using the PBX Directory from a Blackberry
Hi All, A couple of customers called complaining that folks were dialing into their PBX trying to use the Directory to locate users, from a Blackberry, and getting frustrated due to the incompatibility of dialing alpha characters on the the qwerty keyboard and not getting through. The issue of course is the Directory application only recognizes numeric digit tones, not alpha characters (not sure

I've received a bunch of these blackberry backscatter messages over the past week and have been unable to determine which list user is the cause of this. Whoever is forwarding your email to the blackberry address below, please fix the situation. It's becoming really annoying receiving these backscatter bounces that give no clue as to what the nature of the problem is. Thanks. Your
