Lost my madwifi setup
I rebuilt my notebook that has the atheros card in it, and forgot to save all of my setup to get it working. I am using dkms and the madwifi rpms from rpmforge. My modprobe.conf has a line: alias wifi0 ath_pci I can ifconfig wifi0 up But the command: /usr/sbin/wpa_supplicant wpa_supplicant -dd -D madwifi -i wifi0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf fails. Now some of my old

More on Linux on the OQO
I am going over: ftp://ftp.oqo.com/unsupported/linux/OQOLinux.html This is for the 'older' model 1, I have the model 2. The files are 18 mo old, and relate to kernel 2.6.10. Of course I want to avoid a custom kernel, but please help me understand what is being covered here: "2. Enable crusoe processor in kernel .config CONFIG_MCRUSOE=y" What is the crusoe processor? 3.

CentOS and Atheros
What's the easiest path to having my Atheros wireless cards supported, particularly in C5? In the past, I've chosen to download source and build my own, but that's become a little tiresome. At one point, OpenSUSE was the easy option, but since 10.1 it's dropped madwifi. -- Cheers John -- spambait 1aaaaaaa at coco.merseine.nu Z1aaaaaaa at coco.merseine.nu Please do not

CentOS 4 dkms-ndiswrapper
Hi - I'm trying to get wireless running on CentOS 4.7 on a dual core laptop (latitude-e4500) for an employee. I'm having trouble with building dkms-ndiswraper-1.54-1.el4.rf - enclosed are the errors messages. The kernel was rebuilt to disable CONFIG_4KSTACKS. The errors prior to rebuilding the kernel are identical to the errors after rebuilding the kernel and rebooting - minus the error

Building btrfs as a dkms module on Debian
Hi everyone. I was trying to test a more recent version of btrfs on my current kernel (2.6.37) using dkms, without success. I followed these instructions: https://btrfs.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Btrfs_source_repositories - cloned the repo - symlinked to /usr/src/btrfs-git - patched version.sh: Please note version.sh requires bash (better to change the shebang or fix the script). Even with the

DKMS and new(er) Nvidia-drivers
I got the DKMS-system working and now have the Nvidia-drivers v173.08 installed (using rpmforge as suggested previously). Unfortunately this particular driver version gives me screen artifacts so as to make the screen more or less unreadable. Nvidia's proprietary drivers are now up to v180.44 and this version is fine with my test system. I really like the DKMS-system, as it enables me

Good reference for dkms?
I've just built the nvidia driver for my home machine for the third time and I'd like to put it into a dkms format, but I'm not entirely clear on what goes where to make this work. I googled for a good primer on dkms, but what I'm finding is essentially equivalent to the man page, which, like most Unix/Linux man pages, doesn't really tell you "how to do this from

Bug#742515: blktap-dkms: blktapblktap kernel module failed to build
Package: blktap-dkms Version: 2.0.93-0.1 Severity: serious Justification: fails to build from source (but built successfully in the past) blktap fails to build on kernel 3.13 and probably older kernels as well. hme0 interface going up/down (dhclient ?)
Hi all, I am having an issue where my hme0 interface is always turning up and down with dhclient requesting a lease. I am thinking this could be the same issue described by Jeremy Chadwick on June 9th: http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-stable/2013-June/073711.html Everything was fine on 8.2-STABLE and older versions. It was then upgraded directly to 9.0-STABLE

Atheros AR5141
Hi I got myself a nice little R52 802.11a/b/g MiniPCI Card for our router. This card is using the Atheros AR5141 chipset. I searched everywhere to find out more info on this and came across a few pages where it said that the AR5141 chipset is supported but when I stick the card in the router and boot FreeBSD 7-STABLE it hangs when loading the Atheros drivers It stops right after this ath0:

dkms build error
Hi, Unfortunately, I did not succeed to compile a btrfs module via dkms from btrfs-unstable (commit 9aeead73782c4b8e2a91def36dbf95db28605c95) for kernel version 2.6.34-git16. For the exact error message, please see the make.log attached. If I replace the symlink to btrfs-unstable/fs/btrfs by a sumlink to the corresponding subdirectory of the kernel tree everything works well. Thanks, Andreas

Bug#654757: blktap-dkms doesn't seem to always rebuild its module
Package: blktap-dkms Version: 2.0.91-1 Severity: normal After an update of the kernel in SID, I have noticed that blktap-dkms didn't automatically rebuild itself when I upgraded my server with a newer kernel version. My understanding is that it should have. Also, doing dpkg-reconfigure blktap-dkms or reinstalling the package did make it rebuild the kernel module. Thomas Goirand (zigo) --

dkms
First, I want to thank Karanbir for the centos extras repo. I have a question about dkms. I have several Dell PowerEdge systems with Centos 4, and kbs-CentOS- Extras and dell-software repos enabled. Is there any possible conflict if I allow yum to update dkms from dell-software instead of kbs-CentOS-Extras? Currently the i386 architecture has version 2.0.11- in dell-software and 2.0.10-1

Is there some way to make dkms NOT try to install/load a driver? mark, with an old NVidia card that is *NOT* supported by anything newer than 174, and *certainly* not by the "generic" xorg x11 nvidia driver
