Location of 5.2 .iso without XEN
Subject pretty much says it all. I want the 5.2 without the xen kernel.
I've grabbed bits from 2 different mirrors and they all appear to have
xen on them. It would be very nice if someone could throw some text
into the mirrors file to differentiate the two "versions".. Oh yeah, I
need the x86_64 .iso.
Thanks

New installation woes
I've just installed CentOS 5.2 for the x86_64 on a SuperMicro X6DA8-G
board with two 250g SATA drives configured in the bios as a raid 1
array. After getting the base installed, I've tried to yum update the
system and I wind up with these errors....

Replace only Capital Letters
Dear All,
I have these data:
exampledata <- c("This is one item", "This is Another One", "And so is
This")
I would like to find each occurence of a blank space followed by a Capital
Letter and replace it by a blank space, a left curly brace, the respective
Capital Letter, and then a right curly brace.
I thought the following will do:

<BR> and <P> in RedCloth v. Textism
Hi,
I''m using RedCloth right now for some simple markup in a Rails project.
It''s simple and easy - thanks for a great tool!
I have a question about an apparent discrepancy between RedCloth and
Textile, relating to newline characters. I''ve played with the
"hard_breaks" feature and that seems to generate it''s own problems..
If I go onto the Textile

Guidelines for CentOS Mailing List posts
Some people don't know how to conduct themselves on usenet
and mailing lists. Despite the mailing list guidelines
being crystal clear about no html posting and not top-posting
we have people still doing so. People still use text-readers to
access the mailing list so you could be denying access to these
people by flouting the mailing list guidelines.
This is an example of top-posting

Is there a ''right'' way to do _tag field validation?
I''m reading the Ruby on Rails book by the pragmatic programmers, and it has
a brief section on using the _tag input fields (text_field_tag, etc) to
collect form data for fields that don''t represent fields in a model. They
do validation manually in the controller, which seems really clunky. Is
there any way to normalize the form validation between model input fields
and non-model

Compound search / grouping
Hi,
Following problem:
We have a tree structure with children and a root element (recursivly)
stored in one table (imagine a threaded forum).
Each of the children has a title which should be indexed by ferret.
Now we want to make a search that returns only the root and searches all
items.
So if one node has "expensive" and nother node has "car" I want to enter

[PATCH v3 03/13] v2v: factor out populating targets list
Besides, it doesn't need guestfs handle open so move this step earlier
in the process.

Suggested yum priorities settings for 3rd party repos
In the yum priorities page on the wiki Akemi Yagi suggests
http://wiki.centos.org/PackageManagement/Yum/Priorities
[base], [addons], [updates], [extras] ... priority=1
[centosplus],[contrib] ... priority=2
Third Party Repos ... priority=N (where N is > 10 and
based on your preference)
If you have rpmforge, kbs, epel all set up at 10 then wouldn't
those also potentially overwrite

Irritant
Hi again,
I've got a nagging irritant with either putty or the man pages, or
perhaps my setup. If I use putty to log into my server and request any
man page, it returns the page, but really important stuff like keywords
are blank. Is this perhaps caused by the wrong terminal setting in
putty or is there something with Centos man pages that cause this to happen?
Thanks again,
Sam

Hiding Files in Samba
I may need a strong shot of coffee but I though
putting "hide files = /~*/" as follows in the
samba config file would hide files with a tilde.
[homes]
comment = Home Directories
browseable = no
writable = yes
hide files = /~*/
Unfortunately after restarting the server the files
are still visible.

Vandaman.

CentOS 4 update backlog
There are security updates upstream for CentOS (4 and 5)
and it looks like the CentOS 5 ones have been rebuilt
and rolled out. How come the CentOS 4 branch lags behind,
or are the CentOS 5 devs different from the CentOS 4 devs?
If more volunteers are needed I'm sure assistance could
be offered by the CentOS community.
Regards,
Vandaman.

Missing CentOS 4.7 update?
Unless I'm mistaken, does it look like Centos 4.7
is missing an update released on December 3rd 2008?
Upstream details :- http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHBA-2008-0989.html
An updated tmpwatch package that fixes various bugs is now available.
The tmpwatch utility recursively searches through specified directories and
removes files which have not been accessed in a specified period of time.

kmod-xfs and weak-updates
I installed kmod-xfs-0.4-2 back with kernel-2.6.18-92.1.13. I have
updated kernels but there have been no new kmod-xfs. It still works
because of weak-updates (I guess). Currently:
# find /lib/modules -name xfs.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.18-92.1.13.el5/extra/xfs/xfs.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.18-92.1.13.el5/weak-updates/xfs/xfs.ko

Off course people are going to ask. In my opinion as long
as a topic is marked OT, it is preferable to one not marked
but one in which the OP has not even done basic research
on his problem.

slow samba
