OT: What are the 2 openssl commands I need to use?
I looked on the openssl man page but am too dense with commands to
understand what I need to do..... Ran into problems generating a key
and CSR for SSL, because the web site is on a server with an old
Ensim Control Panel. Please someone knowledgeable, give me the
openssl commands I need to use, after I ssh into the web site, to
generate a 2048 bit key and csr. TIA and Happy New Year!

The compile farm is a set of machines that is shared between different
users. They are great to try your code on different architectures, but
the level of control is a lot lower than the level you get from

Colocation/Telehousing
Hi,
Is there anybody on the list that recommends anyone for
colocation/telehousing in the US?
I'm after 2 Servers to be hosted in the US, preferably on the west coast.

Local root vulnerability in udev
I just saw this thread in the OLM forum. Possibly of interest, since
they say it includes CentOS 5, if the update hasn't been released yet.
Always good to keep boxes updated, for security and stability
reasons.

[PATCH] Strip trailing . when using HostbasedUsesNameFromPacketOnly
The following simple patch (against openssh-3.1) moves the test for a
trailing dot in the client-supplied hostname so that it is also stripped
when using the server option HostbasedUsesNameFromPacketOnly.
Please CC me on any replies, as I'm not subscribed to the list.

openssh-2.9p2, auth2.c
Even with option "HostbasedUsesNameFromPacketOnly yes", the trailing
dot in chost should be stripped before auth_rhosts2() is called from
hostbased_key_allowed().

Can't offer it in the bay area, but i can offer space in oregon state
university (which is where the osuosl machines reside).

Why do you need access if you have people willing to handle support
tickets and remote console/power control cards?
I have yet to see a problem that i could not solve (since the cards
can display console, control power to the machine, etc)

Trailing dot is not removed from client hostname if HostbasedUsesNameFromPacketOnly is yes
If HostbasedUsesNameFromPacketOnly is set to yes, sshd does not remove
the trailing dot from the client supplied hostname, causing sshd to
attempt to look up "foo.example.com." (note trailing period) in
known_hosts and .shosts instead of "foo.example.com"
Trivial patch attached.

openssh-3.0p1, auth2.c
openssh-3.0p1 still contains the bug which I already reported on Sept. 28 2001
for 2.9p2, namely, the trailing dot in chost should be stripped before calling
auth_rhosts2() even with option "HostbasedUsesNameFromPacketOnly yes".
Otherwise, the host names in /etc/hosts.equiv and .rhosts would have to be
dot-terminated. Fix: Move lines 776-779 of auth2.c upwards to after line 767.

[LLVMdev] Colocation Facility for LLVM?
Hi all,
I don't have very high hopes, but does anyone happen to have available
some kind of colocation services in the Bay Area that they could
donate to LLVM?
I would really like to establish a proper LLVM lab somewhere instead
of relying on hardware which is residing at various companies. I would
be willing to personally donate some hardware, but don't have any
place to put it.

problems with package 'segmented'
Dear R-users,
I am trying to understand how the 'segmented'-package works to determine
breakpoints and slopes of regression lines in broken-line regression models.
However, I am not able to repeat the example on the "plant"-dataset,
which was reported in the accompanying paper of the package. (V.M.R

Peak Over Threshold values
Dear List
I hope you can help me: I?ve got a dataframe (df) within which I am looking
for Peak Over Threshold values as well as the length of the events. An event
starts when walevel equals 5.8 and it should end when walevel equals the
lower threshold value (5.35).
I tried ?clusters (?)? from ?evd package?, and varied r (see example) but it
did not work for all events (again

[OT] Yoda Communications' VG-400 (4 Port FXO and 2 Port FXO/2 Port FXS)
With the lack of info on Yoda Communications in Taiwan and their
hardware, I thought I'd post my experience.
I got my hands on a few H.323 VG-400's and VG-100TA's.

2 of the VG-400's were 2FXO/2FXS models.
A couple were deployed to SE Asia, where we planned to offer our services.
